Gamble with the wife?! About four years ago we were on a ski vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho. We went to the grocery store to get some supplies, at the checkout she decided to get some lottery scratch off tickets with the change which amounted to about 7 bucks. Well as fate would have it, one of her scratch offs was a $8K winner! We added it to our Vegas fund and even though that 8k has lost its identity over the course of four years of 2X a year Vegas trips, she keeps reminding me of her "gambling" contribution to the fund. Even though it has been a long running joke, it sure wears on me hard especially when I didn't do so well that trip (sorry to say many others too lol). So your gambling with the spouse post struck me funny.

We might be in the same casino, but rarely play side by side.
We usually play diff denoms, or diff games......when tired, just head to room.
Sometimes we text whereabouts, but not overly concerned or worry.
Get together for meals when in town together, which is nice.
No spa or major shopping, thats neither of our thing....
    Works for us.

My wife never gambles. Not interested. She played a little bit of nickel VP sitting by me years ago, but she doesn't really enjoy it, and with her arthritis, her hands really hurt if she does. But we did go to Arizona Charlie's one year when you could sign up for a card, and as a new customer they would refund up to $100 in losses. So we each got the card. She played the quarter Aces Bonus Power where you get 2,000 credits for 4 aces, and got that after just a couple of hands. I played $1 Bonus Poker and made $350 and cashed out. That's the last time she played. Now when we go to Vegas she goes to a movie, hangs out at the pool or the room while I play VP, and we eat and go to shows together. Works for us.

    Well played, hammie!

We do that too, but my bride has her phone with her. My phone is the landline on the wall back home in Wisconsin!

All I have is this trophy! :trophy:

My bride would bet a penny a spin if she could on every slot machine. We may start out next to each other, but I usually end up wandering away to see what's around the corner, etc.

She tends to forget her players card in machines a lot and I get to play hero backtracking to find it for her!

When we're away from home she sleeps in so I'm on my own for the mornings. I still wake up as early as I did when I was still farming 20+ years ago. I love my 5:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. time in Vegas to get some solo gambling on for awhile. A heckuva lot more fun than milking cows, too! (Haven't been to Holsteins yet. Too soon! :D)

We had our first truly gambling together trip just last October at the Orleans after thirteen years of going together.

I am generally in the Book , she will generally play Pai Gow Poker and check on me if she gets up to hit the head. I also spend a fair amount of time just hiking the Strip while she played.

This time we both had a lot of money riding on college football and ended up sitting side by side at the sports bar playing VP and watching on Friday night. Our bartender was great, switched the teevees in front of us to our games, and we were there for three hours plus playing.

She had not been a serious VP player, and found the JOB kind of boring. I have recently switched to deuces wild for some more volatility and she took a shining to that too. I taught her the basic hold strategy as I understood it, and why this is better than that in the long run sort of stuff.

Anyway, we had so much fun, and our bartender was going to be back Saturday so we bet a bunch of games and did the same thing. It was really nice. We sat through back to back games, six or so hours, and had a blast.

I will report back that we did finally discover a game we both enjoy - bubble craps!!

We walked by after dinner at the Mirage our first night there and she stops and goes "What's that?"...we stop and play, $100 in each, shooter got on a roll, 27 rolls before a 7-out and we were hitting hard ways, come bets, etc. Cashed out with $600~ each...should have been more, but we were hooked from there on!

We probably took away 2-3k from the craps machines, she couldn't get enough mojo to play at the "real" tables...and the bubble craps were really the only area we had any luck at (the $25 WoF machine was the death of me)

From that point forward during our trip we couldn't go 5 minutes without saying..."C'mon...push the button...c'mon...push the button!"

I hated going with my ex. When we first started dating, she had no problem sitting at a table with me and cheering me on. But after a few visits, that became boring and she insisted we gamble side-by-side at penny slots, moving around way too much for my liking. And of course, when I win and she doesn't, I heard about it!!!!

We do both. Half the time we play together, the other half we wander. Both are good. It's always a kick to have a rooting section when you are on a roll, and it's also a hoot to walk up to your spouse and surprise them with a nice TITO.

For some reason hubs gets squirrelly if it's more than a $5 bill going into a machine.
He likes to see major skyline, building and property changes rather than play tables games or slots.

    Are you sure about that?
Some gamblers are horrible. Maybe they are nice person in general, but when they gamble, they are really nuts.

After getting married shortly after my first Las Vegas and casino experience in 1985, I went back a couple times with the wife, including a gambling junket to Aruba, Freeport, and a cruise. However, it didn't take long to discover that gambling (and scuba diving) wasn't her thing. In fact, it became evident that we didn't share all that much, which undoubtedly contributed to our divorce.

I introduced my last significant other to Vegas 16 years ago, and she fell in love with it, particularly blackjack and three-card poker. (Or at least I thought so – I was mistaken about so much.) Our betting and playing styles were nearly identical and we almost always played together. We even pooled our money, which tended to smooth out the bumps in the road.

Unfortunately, that's all ancient history now, but I can't imagine having a new girlfriend who doesn't share my 31 ½ year passion. That probably won't make it easier finding someone (unless it's in a casino), but if I ever have another girlfriend or spouse, you can bet we'll be going and playing together! Meanwhile, I'll be going solo.

Was at a craps table a few years ago and a guy was on a roll of a lifetime...everyone was winning big. His wife was standing there watching and she finally said she had to go to the bathroom. The guy said "You're not going anywhere. Pee your pants of you have too, we'll go shopping tomorrow with all this cash". The table went crazy!

My wife and I love to play craps and VP together. However when I play blackjack, she finds the slots, and we're both happier that way.

Lol same thing here! However, he's not my spouse, but rather SO, but we've been together longer than many married couples we know.

He has been learning BJ so even if we are playing together, I suddenly seem to be playing for two. I feel like saying, just give me your money and I'll play it.

God forbid he loses 3 or 4 hands consecutively he becomes rather dramatic. Sadly, other than plopping next to me, he doesn't play anything. So then if he's not playing but rather hovering I feel pressured and it's just not fun.

This is one of the main reasons I prefer to go solo.

I don't mind going with SO. but, be it a friend or SO or whatever, I cant stand for someone to hover around me when I am gambling. it is ok to check-in from time to time, but do not hover! when I go to the local casino with friends, most of the time I ditch them at the door, kindly telling them to text me when it is time to eat or meet at the bar. I have one friend that likes to rub my slot machine for luck -- really!! don't touch my effing machine. I better stop now.

    Hey Now!
Sweet Ti & I play VP together at the Wally Gator every day for hours in Vegas. We take turns on hands and root each other on.
    Priceless....

Hubby and I mix it up some. He may go play craps for a few hours leaving me to wander the slots. Sometimes we play side by side and something we play slots nearby but not together. Always checking in on one another never really to far apart. When I went to Vegas alone with my mom this month I totally missed my hubby. My mom got lost for hours doing her own thing and I kinda misses not having him around to play with
