Nothing against spouses...they're great. BUT...does anyone dislike gambling with your spouse?

We're headed to Vegas next week, the first time together. I've been twice on my own and she has been in years past, although those were pre-21 days so this is her first adult Vegas trip.

I play blackjack, roulette, VP and some $1/$5 slots.

She is opposite - penny slots, changing machines every 2 minutes, can't stay at a table ("too boring").

Drives me crazy when we go to our local together.

Although I already know this trip is going to be less gambling oriented and more "time spent together doing non-gambling activities"...any tips to make this trip a success all around? Sending her the spa is an idea...but that can get expensive!! :D:D

We do play some VP together, but I tend to wander off on my own. Bouncing around, etc. She can sit at one machine for hours playing VP.

The biggest reason we split up is I play $5-$10+ at a time. She rarely plays $0.50 a play - usually a quarter.

Keep it in perspective. When you're playing $1-$5 slots, you are losing money faster than your wife is spending it at the spa.

A good marriage has some give and take in it. My wife has done certain things to accommodate me over the years. One was to learn to play video poker. We don't always sit together, but when we do, the company is nice. When I want to play blackjack, which she hates and does not understand, I'll drop her off to do some shopping, which I do not enjoy. On our next trip to the Tacoma area, to visit her best friend, I arranged a layover in Las Vegas. She gets what she wants and I get what I want.

We gamble a bit together, but for my most "serious" gambling of the day I send (like I really have to push her! LOL) her shopping or to the spa. And I usually stay up later than she does in Vegas.

So very true. BUT - in our case, I have a bunch of express comps that I continually encourage her to use at the spa - but she usually does not want to bother. She does do some shopping but as we get older, there is just less stuff we want, or already have anyway. Lucky for both of us, her habits are not $500 purses - she loves getting those $10 ones. In the end, she likes to go to bed early and I stay up late - usually too late.

My better half is my favorite gambling partner and infectiously enthusiastic. If she wins, yay, that's extra shopping money!! If she loses, well, that was the stake we had for gambling with anyway, and please can she have some more?!?

Wouldn't want it any other way!

    I pretend to?
She plays on my card so probably provides 25-30% of my card total. She goes less. We play vp together usually but not exclusively. She is intimidated by table games. Played LIR at the Cal last June and she walked 60$'up, seemed pleased and comfortable. Equated her win to 6 rolls of quarters
Anyway I play craps when I feel the need /pull. She doesn't even like to watch that much unless playing the supportive role and then soliciting a green chip.
It also depends on your age and length of relationship. Everyone's mileage will vary.

I guess the good things with Vegas is there are more diversions so it's not just having only two options-stay or go home!

Hey, it's a gamble to get married in the first place - luckily I was a big winner on that bet! My lovely wife likes to play some WOF and she's starting to enjoy video poker, not a fan of table games. She used to get mad at the slots and quit for the day if she lost $20. Of course, I used to get mad when I lost at blackjack, too. These days we're both just happy to be gambling in Vegas, win or lose.....

We rarely see each once out on the floor. she is a slot queen and I prefer tables or VP if there is something interesting on the tubes. I am also not a degenerate and after a couple hour max, I will simply go for a walk, grab a beverage while she still punches away. I will give her a few minutes of side by side time where I lose my table winnings then kiss her and say see you in an hour or so:)

We often go to Vegas together and don't usually gamble together. However we don't spend that much of our time gambling, and the rest of the time we are together. I like playing poker, betting on football, and finagling coupons. My wife needs more sleep more than I do, so I try to do those things late at night or early in the morning when she is sleeping. I also often "sneak" my gambling in short sessions.

My wife doesn't gamble for more than a few hours per trip to vegas. When she does, she plays craps, which I only find interesting for about 10 minutes or until the first 7 out, whichever comes first. After that, I sit nearby playing blackjack or video poker until she is ready to go. Those aren't necessarily my favorite things to do but they pass the time at a rate I can afford, and occasionally result in free cocktails.

You can easily lose $500 in under an hour if you hit a bad streak, whereas a massage will be around $200 at the most expensive spas in town. There are some good spa deals on travelzoo, which may cut that in half, if you are flexible enough to accommodate their rules and parameters.

My wife's top games are Craps, Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Video Poker and actual live tournament Poker. We started going to Vegas when she turned 21.

We don't play side by side, but we always stay in the same casino until one of us is ready to leave. We usually set a time and location to meet, then move on to the next one. We always take one or two afternoons alone so we don't drive each other nuts.

Husband only plays BJ, which I don't enjoy but will play beside him to enjoy together. He tries VP, but makes me crazy asking me every hand what to do. We do have one rule.....if you are winning you don't leave to meet up for ANYTHING!

I really enjoy gambling with my wife but she does not like table games. Last trip we stayed at Cosmo and I booked her one of the treatment packages. I think it was around $300 for two treatments. It is pricey but it proved to be a great investment because the night ended with great terrace balcony sex! Awesome. :headbang:

I love Vegas and most of my trips are solo as hubby doesn't really like Vegas much. When he does go it seems we're on separate vacations anyway. We do have breakfast together and schedule a time to meet for dinner but other than those two meals...we don't see each other. He only likes slots. I'll play anything with a low house edge (mostly craps and vp).
