Yep, that's right, no booze. What? Vegas with no Drinky Poo? OMG ????

Well guess what gang, they don't give me (you) those free drinks out of the goodwill of their hearts. They want you to "GAMBLE ON...".
How many times have I done it..? Got so drunk I couldn't focus on my game, and lost toooooo much money.
More than I want to remember. OK, some of you can have a couple and you're good, but me.... Well you may have seen my old moniker, " If a little is good , more's got to be better.."
Discipline? Yeah... Right! Out the window.
There's a lot of ways to have fun in Vegas, and landing in jail on a drunk driving charge isn't one of them.( I don't drink and drive, Nevada is a bad place to be if you're busted. Take a cab.)
One time I woke up in a suite in the RIO with no recollection of how I got there, but my wife will never let me forget it.
I'll never forget the hangover though, I was sick for a week.
Oh, the humanity...

Twice now I have been stopped in those stupid "sobriety checkpoints" in Las Vegas. Once I had nothing to drink that day, so they did not even ask me for DL.

However (comma) the other time I admitted to having a few casino drinks and they had me out there walking a straight line and reciting the alphabet backwards while my so-called friends and family were in the car laughing their @$$es off! :(

I agree, LV is not the place to drive under the influence. Too many drivers who are distracted, unfamiliar with the streets, and yes, under the influence to varying degrees. Also pedestrians who wander out in the street and cross about anywhere.

Hmmmm. I think there's a difference between having a few drinks and 'getting drunk'. In Vegas, I seem to be able to sip cocktails most of the evening without getting drunk or losing focus on the gaming. The days of drunk driving are long gone. It used to be funny..."Hey...I have no idea how I got home, but I'm more worried about where I parked the car. Can't find it anywhere. Gotta make some calls." Not now. Whole different ball game.

I love a cocktail at the tables or machines and although I didn't on my last trip, bar top VP is a good time for me. Drinking and Vegas are sort of a package deal for me. Vegas is where I go to leave it all behind, and being "comfortably numb" is part of that.

That said, I don't get fall-down drunk. I don't drink and drive. I watch myself and my surroundings carefully. I just have a good time.

There were a couple of occasions on my last trip where I felt like I wasn't playing very good VP strategy and the cards were starting to not make sense to me anymore. Then it's either bed-time or time for a sandwich or pizza to sober up a bit.

I don't think everyone needs to drink in Vegas to have a good time. I see people drinking water or just a soda. But those people are not me. :)

the most memorable and specific drinking and gambling episode i have is when i was playing roulette at planet hollywood
it was probably about 4-5am
i was tired and drunk
now i always play the same set of numbers on every spin
so when my number finally hit, i was very excited ... until i realized the dealer was scooping up all the chips off the table
to my horror, i realized that i had placed my bets ... one spot away from my original numbers
8 numbers... all 8 of them off by one spot each
/huge facepalm

The problem isn't drinking and gambling (drinking and driving is simply idiotic everywhere). The problem is people who drink beyond their ability to handle other things. The two are not mutually exclusive concepts.

Why just why. The only place I have gambled without drinking is at the Lucky Eagle in Eagle Pass and that's only because they call a Corona a premium beer and want $5 bucks for it. Plus I normally drive back since my dad thinks it's funny to joke with the officers at the Border Patrol checkpoint.

Yes, I drink to excess in Vegas and don't drive unless it is early morning before I start drinking, but we rarely rent a car anymore. We lived in Vegas for two years and trust me, the drivers are crazy.
When we lived there, the locals blamed it on the influx of California people, but in my opinion, it was just an excuse for everyone to drive nuts.

My gambling with the expectation of a positive outcome is sports, and I make my bets clean and sober, I treat that part of the trip like I do a job interview.

Now......bartop VP is a whole different story, I know the strategy pretty well so the ultimate game there is getting as many free beers as my tipping and play will allow. I don't drink hard liquor much so getting too out of control on beer is a little more difficult, I fill up before I fall off the bar stool.

We Uber or shuttle everywhere post imbibing........generally I will get tired before I get too drunk to make the correct VP plays. I think :):):)

... reciting the alphabet backwards ...
Just for giggles, I just tried reciting the alphabet backwards, and I'm cold sober. If I had attempted to do it in the presence of a police officer, I'd end up in the drunk tank for sure! Like, who's used to reciting it backwards? For that matter, I'm a damn good touch typist, but probably couldn't identify what keys are which without actually trying to type something. Fortunately, I don't drive in Vegas.

Hmmm. I thought you just got up, gathered all essentials and moseyed back to the room matching the photo on your phone taken once checked in with the correct key slot.
I miss a lot staying/playing/snoozing/eating &drinking in the same 250,000 sq ft.
I miss binions in the mid-80's. But yeah who drinks to excess in vegas?

 I'll drink to that . My beverages of choice are hot tea, water and ginger ale and to those of you who enjoy something a little stronger, cheers to you too

One would be hard pressed to find anyone who has more fun in Vegas than I do (of course my 'fun' may not be your 'fun'). I say that in all good faith, cause once I hit Vegas everything becomes one big blur - except I always remember that I had the best time ever. However, I would be lying if I said I remember details and occurrences more clearly than some who may indulge - I know that unless I capture it on a pic or video or write it down, it may not have happened, cause that is what Vegas does to me. It's a blur of slots, food, slots, shows, slots, friends, and more blur...Ask me how I'm doing gambling, and I will answer, "I'll let you know when I return to the room to empty my purse and pockets cause everything's a blur - I'm having too much fun to care". Why would a stone cold sober person need to take a pic of the room number on arrival so it can be found in the wee hours of the morning? Cause Vegas is a blur.
Whatever causes the blur, don't sweat it - it's how Vegas is meant to be.:woohoo::drunk:

Except for my wife, I don't know anybody who can do that. I get ZYX, then in my head I have to start with A again and run all the way to the end to get the next three.

I make it a rule never to drink while on the craps table. I need to keep track of my bets as well as my partner in crime's bets! Now, video poker is different. That's my go to, take a break &get off my feet

Unfortunately I gamble stone sober quite a bit wouldn't be smart playing NL holdem and Omaha with even a six pack in my system,, my time is after the session is over.

The great thing about sports betting is doing your research in the morning, placing the bets then get hammered rest of day :beer:

I MIGHT have one or two drinks while playing video poker, but most of the time I just have a bottle of water in my purse that I hardly drink because I don't want to have to give up my machine to go to the bathroom!

I'm just not a big alcohol drinker. I like the taste, but I don't like the feeling of getting buzzed.

Have to say and I've been to Vegas as many times as most and I've had plenty of drinks but I've never been so blasted I didn't know what the hell was going on or what I was doing.
