So a couple months ago I was itching for a road trip. I was seriously considering driving from Canada and then flying JR to Vegas for a fun SW adventure before flying her back to the Great White North and then driving back myself. JR gets much less time off than I do so we have to maximize her time. Now, a road trip is a fabulous time don’t get me wrong. But that 16ish hour drive back home through Idaho, Utah, and Montana just didn’t raise my skirt. Just driving through Montana takes 5 hours. I’ve done it in the past and while driving down is a good time, driving home is less exciting.

After costing things out and in consideration of the cheap flights out of Kalispell, Montana versus Calgary’s stupidly high costs, it made no sense to put 5000 km (3100 miles for my American brothers and sisters) on my car, plus gas and hotels etc. Though the freedom of not catching flights or returning a rental is liberating when you have your own vehicle, the price to benefit was not there.

Long story short, The Gaggles are driving to Kalispell tomorrow and catching a ride to Vegas. We shall rent a car versus grinding down my own vehicle to break up the Vegas on either side.

Our itinerary includes, in no particular order, Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Mesquite, and Vegas. Actually…that is the exact order. We will be in Lake Powell for our 7th anniversary. I am pretty sure JR rented us a seadoo for the day

If you are opposed to gluttonous, excessive drinking this may not be the trip report for you. If you are opposed to the possibility of reading my TR before bed and then waking up for work to find me STILL posting live from a random casino and feeling my all-night gambling is grotesquely irresponsible, this may not be the trip report for you. If you are opposed to the occasional needless, some would argue slightly exploitive picture of JR in a bikini, this may not be the trip report for you. If you seek refined behaviour and fine dining, I would respectfully direct you to another Trip Report. Some of us might consider fine dining to be a barely touched room service tray that we find in a hallway at the end of a hard night of drinking.

And in fact, to give you an indication of how hard we are going, I am literally going to see a lawyer today to get my will, power of attorney and personal directive done in order. Now if that isn’t commitment to decadence you tell me what is?

And the “Aces with a kicker” on all of this, JR is going home towards the end of the trip and letting me stay in Vegas for the NFL opening weekend. Three day of Gaggles without supervision.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to finish packing.

I am gonna go “Super Himalaya” fast.

I'd say something about driving safe but y'all do at 20 km/hr already. Win some money and if you get here before we leave, we can drink a beer.

We are only there tomorrow until Saturday morning brother. But checking into MGM on Wednesday if you’re still around.

Now about those leftovers in the fridge…

I even scored a Royal in Whitefish Montana two weeks ago. How nasty is this that table @tringlomane on a $2 bet?

$800 is max win in Montana. These gotta be worst pay tables ever?

You know, I feel like I’ve really matured and become a more responsible person from my younger days.

Then I found a picture of our fridge from a trip to Whitefish from when we were 17. The second picture was from our fridge 2 weeks ago.

The photos have me questioning a few things. I’m also pretty certain they don’t make Schmidt’s anymore. It was pointed out to us how if you take every second letter out of Schmidt, you reveal the actual taste of the beer.

All I know is that beer was cheap.

Nice hit!

Since the bet is split between wild and non-wild wins, it's probably better than you think. Unfortunately I don't have a specialized calculator handy to figure this one out. But this is also a U1 machine, they are historically known to offer ~fair paytables in line with what you wager.

At $2 in Nevada it usually is 98.5% or 97.5% if you autohold. It's probably less in MT, but it's probably 97ish.

Thank you!!!! Almost time to depart to Montana.

I miss Montana, it's been about 4 years now. Going to make it a point to go next year.
First time I went in 2021, stayed in Lakeside, drove each day to Glacier, it was beautiful for 3 nights. Then had enough and flew to Vegas from there. 😆

I did not get my Moose’s pizza. I am off to a sad start.

The renovations in the Kalispell airport are quite nice. This must be why the price to park is literally triple the price of Great Falls.

For a small city, this is a very busy airport.

I’m in Kalispell/Whitefish 4-5 times a year. It’s swell here.
We just had our annual high school friends trip a couple weeks ago. We have only missed one year since Grade 12/Senior year.

I think we can safely say that this is something you’d see on a flight to Vegas with a smidgen more frequency than a flight to Albany.
