    My Trip Report

    Hello All!

It has been a very long time since I posted a trip report. A lot of life has been happening, including various health issues, a job change and getting married in 2015. My wife knew about my love for Vegas. She asked me to take to Vegas in 2017 for her first trip. She loved it! Stayed at TI and she enjoyed every minute of our stay. We went back in 2018 for a stay at the Orleans (my favorite). She absolutely enjoyed that trip. We saw MJ One and went out to Red Rocks and Hoover Dam. We have to be extra careful concerning the 'rona due to our health issues. We have been canceling and re-booking this trip for a year and a half. We finally felt it was safe enough for us to travel. We both got the shots, but still have to be careful.

Flew round trip out of Houston Hobby for $600 total. Easy flights and early. Peeps on return trip did not want to cooperate with mask policy and were warned police would be waiting for them at the gate. They eventually decided to cooperate.

Off the plane, grabbed baggage and off to rental center. Short line at Dollar and outta there in under 30 minutes. Always rent a minivan because of my rollator(walker). It does not fit in car trunks and van is cheaper than SUV. Toyota with 50k miles, showing some serious wear.

Check-in line at Mirage was long, but got through in about 15 minutes. Quite a few people got out of line to go and do mobile check-in. Good for us! Got a King Tower Room for $79 a night at Mirage. Ended up on the 25th floor. Loved having separate elevators. Never a line! Awesome view of the mountains. That sunrise view every morning was absolutely gorgeous!

    Shows
Soul of Motown at Westgate. That SuperBook is LIT! We really enjoyed the show. Fantastic voices and dancing. We were the youngest couple in the joint. Watching the crowd provided extra entertainment. I have not laughed that much in a long time. Worth the price of entry. I believe this show was previously at South Point. They now have a residency at Westgate.

Bellagio Fountains, 3pm on Tuesday. Your Song by Elton John. This is a must do for the wife every trip. I enjoy it too. It was slightly overcast with a light breeze. Much better than expected. I love how the water dances with the music!

    Food

First, the mistakes: Diablo inside Mirage and Rolling Smoke--to keep it simple--We will not be returning to either of these establishments. Great service, food not good!

    Oh Yeahs!
    1. Hash House on W. Sahara- Breakfast here every trip with wifey. She loves this place. Very consistent. Always good and hot. Great service too. We ate here twice this trip.

    2. Peppermill- Breakfast here was good as well. We sat at the bar. The servers could not keep up with the cooks. It is amazing the amount of food served in that place. Incredible! That piping hot blueberry muffin-OH Yeah!

    3. The Pantry @ Mirage- Breakfast is not cheap, but $%^&&* it was good! Great service, great portions and great food!!!

4.The Still @ Mirage- The wife had a philly cheese steak and I had mini cheeseburgers. The philly was not authentic, but my wife said it was really really good. I could eat those mini cheeseburgers every day! They were that good! Good service too. Ate here twice.

    5. Nacho Daddy downtown- Must do each trip! These people understand how to make excellent nachos. We shared the Fiesta nachos with shredded chicken. My oh my! That chicken! Good gosh! Love! Love! Love!

    6. Ethel M's. Good but we prefer See's.

    7. See's- Pecan caramel clusters, peanut clusters, toffeettes. All absolutely wonderful.

    8. Costa @ Mirage- Really good! Chicken parmesan does not come with pasta, wth? Pricey too!

    9. Siegels Bagels....waited in line for 20 minutes and they sold out! So sad!

    Misc...
Mirage was great. Very clean. Lots of people on Sunday, but diminished each day after. Excellent customer service. Limits were mostly $20 for Blackjack, UTH, Roulette and $15 for carny games. Did see $10 early Wednesday morning, but went up quickly. I personally do not like the vibe in that casino. Love the hotel and sportsbook though.

Visited Kounts Customs...did not buy anything this time, but cool cars to see.

Spent one day shopping with the wife. Love having a rental car! I really did not think my wife would love Vegas as much as I do. She is already planning our next trip. Not being big gamblers, we always find plenty to do.

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! When you think you've had enough water, DRINK MORE!!!

Wife doubled or more her $20 every time she played a slot. She loved the slots that drop actual coins at the El Cortez, my new favorite place to play blackjack. $10 3/2 and double after splits allowed. Old school, laid back, and quiet. Knowledgeable players at the tables made it fun.Broke even, but really enjoyed time there. We will definitely go back with a better bank roll.

It was a fun time with the wife. We both really needed to get away for a few days! Cannot wait for the next trip!

Not the most exciting report, but thought I needed to share, considering the time others spend on trip reports. Also, based on the info I gather from trip reports!

    Dude... NACHOS!

So can you elaborate a little on Rolling Smoke? Like what was bad about the food? I’ve wanted to try as a closer BBQ place than John Mulls...

Thanks for the report. Awesome pictures! Glad you were able to make it back!

After visiting Mirage in May for the Secret Garden, I was kind of wishing I was staying there on one of my other planned trips this year. It’s a nice property!

    Great trip report and pics!
Longtime Mirage fan, so I appreciate your comments on your dining experiences at Mirage. Will have to try The Still next time! I agree The Pantry is pricey for breakfast, our favorite breakfast there are the pancakes, sausage links and fruit/yogurt/granola dish, portions are so big it’s enough for two!

Glad your wife enjoyed the trip, y’all are a cute couple!

Brisket was dry and the hot links were not spicy and I did not like the flavor of either. My brother said go to the bbq place at the Linq promenade. He says it is so much better.

Selfies, Horny Mike's truck and conservatory were on my wife's Iphone 11. Others were on my Samsung A71.
