Where was that luck?? I just lost 7/8 of my craps buy in. Point seven out. Point seven out. Bleh!!

The remaining craps budget is small enough I can only play the $1 bubble craps at Excalibur!

Still at the castle and ... a teeny weeny bit tipsy! Last day!!

Lost even more at craps here. Had to cash out since my college kid (studying abroad in Ireland) called and wanted to talk. You just can’t tell your kid, no, mom can’t talk now she’s playing craps!

I headed to the sports bar at Excalibur, the quietist spot nearby. Found out the bartop bonus poker isn’t, it’s just JOB. Still, they had Lagunitas IPA.

Down on VP. Down on craps. I’m even on slots.

I always hope to win and expect to lose. But actually losing sucks! I’ve got a touch more VP and slots bankroll. Wi probably play at Park or NYNY until it’s time to go to the airport. And maybe a few more hockey bets. I won 2 and lost 2. Maybe I’ll win the next 2?

And I guess I need lunch. NFI happy hour is calling!

... it seems like the Asian luck theme slots are multiplying. I like them-love the designs. But I miss Sherlock and my Dragons :-(.

image.jpg So... when I get a nice win on my second spin, I cash out and move on. I got this on my second spin. That means, I’ve used up my luck for that machine. Crazy? You tell me!

I may be a low roller but I feel like a total degen for having three trips scheduled in less than two months!:headbang:

    Not Crazy...Smart!

I enjoyed your TR! Being a low roller myself, I guess I tend to gravitate to those kind of TRs. I'll look forward to you next one to help keep me occupied until May.

I’m still planning a wrap up post but work has kicked my butt this week! Had events all weekend too. But I want to get my mental notes on NoMad etc typed up.

I think downtown might be my only hope for $10 Pai Gow. I did see lots of face up.

? Are you talking about "Bonus Poker" where all quads pay 30 for 1? That's a CET bar staple and sadly still their best game. :(

No, not even that. It was the same pay table as their "Jacks or Better". The paytable looked off, so I tapped back through to more games to see if I'd accidentally selected JOB since that used to be my main game. Nope, that bartop at Excal had the same paytable for Bonus as for JOB.

A few final thoughts on this trip....

Forgive me if I mention something I did earlier up thread:peace:

NoMad was excellent. I would stay there again, no question, no doubt. The room was lovely, the view was lovely (not the very best view I've had, but with only the top four floors, you're guaranteed something decent). The staff were all friendly, professional, and welcoming. I felt like I was staying someplace special. I did not try the bar or restaurant (had other plans for meals), so I can't give any feedback on either, but the bar looked enticing.

NoMad is very dark. You come in from bright sun, and it's dark inside. The colours are all very dark reds and golds and brown/black in the lobby. It was a little weird but also made it feel like someplace *different*. There is a separate elevator bank for the high floors, and that one has carpet, distinct from the regular Park MGM ones which have the marble-like flooring. You have to wave your key at a sensor to get to your floor; reassuring. It worked every time.

Housekeeping service was fine. Not the very best I've had (that was the time at Paris when I got nice notes each day, and extra toiletries), but certainly what one expects. They leave a couple of bottles of the mLife bottled water each day.
That fancy soaking tub in the bedroom? No non-skid. I'm actually going to write them a note about it; it's a drowning hazard. If you were sloshed and got in the tub and were shorter than about 6 feet....you could easily slip under. Also, no special bubble bath, just an extra tube of their shower gel.

I covered most of the gambling I did. This was a trip where I lost slowly here and there. No big wins besides doubling my buy-in at craps the first night. That was something magical!

Here's something I found odd, but maybe it's not? The first morning I was there, I played craps, buying in for (double my usual $5 table buy-in because it was a $10 table, but not a huge amount), with my players card. The pit boss said a friendly hello and asked how long I was staying. He then proceeded to remember my name each morning, and greet me warmly. It was nice but also...weird? I wasn't buying in with *that* much, and I didn't play *that* long each time. Is it a NoMad thing, that he could tell I was staying at NoMad by my player's card? Am I totally overthinking this?

Sage at Aria ... the vegan tasting menu was amazing, blew both me & my friend away. The service wasn't quite as spot-on. She'd called ahead and left notes with our booking, but they weren't properly transfered to our server, who didn't bring us the vegan menus at first. We were brought the wrong amuse bouche, which luckily my friend didn't taste as she is allergic to dairy and it was a veloute style soup which probably had dairy. The timing of the meal was excellent though, and our server recommended a wine which paired perfectly with the tasting menu. Another blip at check time -- I mentioned both charging to my room and the MyVegas on my mLife card, and the server asked "the Absinthe tasting?" in a confused tone, since we hadn't had the absinthe, but when I said what it was ($30 off $100) and he brought the check back later, it was correct.

Atomic Saloon was awesome!! I would see that show again, for sure. We got the cheap seats due to a Groupon, and they weren't really seats but rather a bench shared with several others. Row GG. The good? being right by the stage door--we got more interaction, and got to see the actors climbing around. The bad? That bench was not quite long enough for the number of people seated there. I was sitting half off the edge. The ushers moved one couple about half way through and then we actually had room to sit. The show is like Absinthe or Opium but with imho a bit stronger storyline running through it. Hilarious hi jinks set in the Old West. I think I liked the acts better than Opium tbh. Anyway, if you liked Absinthe or Opium, you should enjoy this one too.

OK, that's gonna be a wrap! Thanks for following along--I swear, if I didn't do a trip report, it would all just blur together in a melange of beer and VP! Until ... next week! Bally's and Barry and Sarah!

Interesting about the pit boss thing. Maybe he's just really good with names and tries to be friendly. Also he might have have knew you were at NoMad on the computer, but I sorta doubt it.
