    My Trip Report

    Planning-

Asked for the days off work...got them
Checked Hailstorm.com for some Hannah Montana tickets. Found 4 tix for $39 each for 1/20/08. Bingo! My two girls will love this.
Called Silverton to book my free nights offer...Sold out! Damn!.
Called Four Queens to book $42 two for one offer. Can't use the offer, It's a special event weekend. They offer $66 per night...no thanks.
I can still stay free at Primm or Jean. Let me check the prices online for Vegas. I wanna stay in Vegas this time.

Tripres.com had $38 per night for the Fremont Friday-Sat. Booked. Also had $54 per night New Tower room at Terrible's Las Vegas for Sunday + $50 free slot play. Booked.

    Rooms

    Fremont.. Small room. But clean.
    Quick check-in
    Small beds...2 double beds
    Very few TV channels.

    Terrible's.
New Tower room. Not much better than a standard room. Probably not worth the extra $19.
    Big Plasma TV
1st floor had a patio with a table.
Kids played Nintendo for 6.99 an hour

    Food

Planned on using coupons for cheap buffets but eating lots of salads and veggies to cut the Cholesterol.
That plan was history the first meal. Pigged out on all kinds of meat all trip.

    Plaza 777 Dinner Buffet
Used 2 for 1 coupon from ACG
This and the El Cortez chinese buffet was a scratch I just needed to itch.
Very Generic. Not much selection. Everything was edible. No real need to return, although I have already bought 3 ACG books so it might happen.

    El Cortez Chinese Buffet.
Also very plain. Food was decent but no reason to go back. I've had a better and cheaper Chinese buffet on Flamingo.

    Fremont Champagne Brunch
Had this twice. On Saturday used the 2 for 1 from the Fremont street Coupon sheet that I got with my ACG coupon.
Had it again as the slot club said I could have 2 free buffets for my play. The printout also served as a line pass.
Champagne was Wycliff Brut. Don't know if that's a good one or not.
Buffet was pretty good. Not as good as MSS but a nice room and good meatball soup and Mexican pot pie.

    Magnolia's -Four Queens

Had a Patty melt late night. Dissapointing.
I need Rye bread and cheddar or American cheese on my Patty melt. They had some kind of Light and dark bread mix and Swiss cheese. I think Denny's patty melt would've been better.

Interesting thing was that they had some House Blend or House Brand ketchup from Sysco. For some reason I found this interesting as Heinz seems to have a stranglehold on the restaurant ketchup market.

    Terrible's Buffet-

Used a 2 for 1 coupon for the Sunday night Prime Rib and Shrimp Buffet. Pretty good Prime Rib.

MLK day had the Champagne Brunch...swiped the players club card, didn’t pay a dime. Champagne was also Wycliff Brut...Hmm. Now I bet it’s a cheap one. Price was 600 points each. With 3x points Sunday before midnight on VP and 5x points after midnight(Monday) on reel slots we had about 10K points.

That last day I realized that we had all cheap buffets this trip. The one thing I would’ve changed was to mix in one great meal in a regular restaurant.

    Gambling and Drinking-

Drink service was OK at Fremont. The waitresses were fast enough but really busy. Nickel STP VP paid OK but I didn’t really like this game. Found some 9/6 25c VP which I liked.

The wife signed up for a Binions card with $10 free slot play. Didn’t win. In a half hour never saw a waitress. I watched the dancing Cowgirls while she gambled.

She also signed up for club at four queens + $10 free play. I used my $20 free play from a mailer. Didn’t win. Drink service was good.

Terrible’s- Caught a Nickel Royal flush on a 9/6 JOB machine using my $50 free play for $200. Ended up losing about $100 back while racking up lot’s of points. Just started getting good drink service with a $2 tip when the shift change happened. Had to break in a new set of waitresses. Just about lost my buzz. Wife didn’t feel like drinking so I was able to order a Bloody Mary for her and Grey Goose shot for me and drink both for a $4 tip. Drinks started coming real fast.

    Entertainment-

Plaza- Saw Viva Las Vegas using the 2 free tickets from the Fremont Street coupon sheet that we got with our ACG coupon. Much better than I expected. No beverages allowed in the showroom so the show was totally free. Comedian with a Cowboy hat was funny , female magician was good enough.

Hannah Montana at MGM- Great show. The kids loved it and me and the wife loved it too.

All in all a good trip, just need to upgrade the dining experience but only spent about 400 hundred bucks.

The cheap trip was welcome as we have Front row tix for Terri Clark on Feb. 9 at GVR and are really hoping to make this show.

Nice write-up man. Only 400 bucks spent for a 3-night Vegas Vacation is win in my book.

    Jacko,
As a frugalist, I'm proud of you.
And, don't worry about the diet while in Vegas.
Unless you're a vegetarian, it's difficult to avoid hitting the meats up on a buffet.

Great report. Eating healthy or dieting kinda goes out the window the first day in Vegas. It can be done, but why?

I feel your pain Jacko. I'm eating mostly healthy foods right now, so when I gain 50 pounds during my 4 night stay in March, I'll still fit in the plane. Last year I did the same and gained around 7 pounds during a 3 night stay.

    Damn those evil buffets!!!

    Thanks for the great TR.
