    which would you choose?
3 nights comped at the Cal west tower room
    or
3 nights comped at the Fremont that includes
$10,000 Just for Fun Slot Tournament! ($3,500 top prize)

I have both of these offers on the same weekend. sometimes I can be so indecisive.
    this is what I know:
the Cal west tower rooms are much nicer.
the tournament times are usually in the morning (Saturday) and I am not a morning person.

also, there is a free concert on that Saturday night on Fremont street. will the street be blocked off, such as they do on First Friday?

    TIA for you input

I would opt for the Cal. Life's too short to settle for a crappy hotel (Fremont).

If the cal comp includes the tourney id go with the cal.

If the Fremont comp includes the tourney id still consider the cal.

I'm a Boyd guy but the Fremont just seems dirty to me almost like Binions.

Sorry for offending the Fremont players.

I would go with the Cal. Nicer rooms. Quieter for sure.

Your chances of winning the slot tournament are ......?

For a couple, Cal. If solo I would probably do Cal also, but might be tempted to do Fremont. Hop skip and jump from room to FSE.

Cal is nicer than Fremont, but I like Fremont cause, Dunkin steps from my room and a few short steps for FSE.

But honestly Cal is nicer, better restaurant selections as well.

I think it depends on what you want more. Fremont is right on the FSE so close to the action. Lots of seniors like Fremont because of that, they don't have to walk very far to get to the other casinos. Cal is a block away so not much farther but still some people like to be right in on the action of the FSE. 1 elevator opens up right on the casino floor so it only takes a minute or two to get from your room to the casino.

Personally I like the cal better, especially the west tower. Nice renovated rooms. Close to MSS and the crap tables. Parking structure at the Cal is self parking.

Fremont negatives. Smaller room. Small bathrooms. No self parking, you have to valet and probably have to tip them so that adds to the room costs.

Fremont positives. Dunkin Donuts. Paradise café and buffet. Rocky Mountain Chocolate. Closeness to FSE and other casinos.

So I think it all depends on what you are looking for in a place to stay.

Not to get in a tangent but what exactly does that entail? Does that just mean the cross streets are made impassible or do they control pedestrian access to the mall somehow as well?

it usually is closed off to under 21's, you have to enter through a makeshift security checkpoint, and get a wristband.

I am familiar with both the Cal and the Fremont. the slot tourney is not available at the Cal. I was just wondering if it would be worth while to do the slot tourney, or take the nicer room. door number 1 or door number 2 kind of thing.

Wow we all misread this lol.

If that is that case, my preference would 100% be Fremont and tourney. Why pass up on a chance to win free money for a room that is in all reality a little nicer?

Not like it is 3 free Wynn nights vs Fremont and tourney...

I was looking through Travel and Leisure's list of the best hotels in the world. Didn't see the Cal. Must have been a oversight.

Except for the low cost, the buffet is a negative, imho.

Can always stay at the Fremont and eat at Cal/MSS if getting comp meals.

I'm with the rest who say stay at Fremont, for a slightly worse room, and have a free shot at winning the money. :)

They must be doing something right since there are lines waiting to get in for dinner, especially on the seafood nights. For me I just go to the buffet during the seafood nights.

To each his/her own. Some people don't like buffets, other people like certain buffets. There are eateries for everyone so while you may not like the buffet others do.
