In another thread, I saw that @pjpeck and @Fet297 mentioned about work happening at Fremont. In a recent YouTube video by Hawaii Craps Shooters, they interviewed a Boyd Properties General Manager who said they started a complete hotel remodel including replumbing and rewiring all the rooms. He expects the first remodeled rooms to be available in May and the project should be complete around Christmas time.

That is great news! I find the current Fremont rooms unacceptable so a refresh a la The Cal could get me to stay there again.

I wish Boyd would redo the rooms at MSS too. Great opportunity to do it fast with no guests. Money is cheap right now (but not wood/steel).

Actually I think they did redo some of the rooms at MSS a few years ago. They installed walk in showers in those rooms. Yeah, with the shutdown it would have been good if they redid all the rooms to walk in showers. But maybe they already redid all the rooms, we won't know until the reopen MSS and people can stay in the rooms. I think the rooms with the walk in showers were rooms 1 - 8 or 1 - 12, I can't remember how many they redid.

I stayed there a couple of weeks ago and can report half of the rooms are blocked off on each floor. I was hoping this was why.

If they can just reconfigure the bathrooms it bit with some actual counter space and spruce up the rest, it would be ok.
MSS has remodeled some rooms I know because I've stayed in them. They may have been working on them in the last year. I would expect his and hers bidets 'cause the more you get, you more you get to pay for.

I was talking with the bellhop in the elevator. he said some of the rooms should be available by the end of this month. they have some pictures posted on a banner in the walkway between Fremont street and DTG.
Of course they look drastically improved as they could not be much worse.

Guess building a new tower at the Fremont is put on hold. Or did they cancel that project already?

It seems like they are acting like it was never mentioned.
    We all dreamed it.

This is exciting news! My beloved Treasure Chest machines are really close to the guest elevators. Now I just have to somehow crack the code needed to get a comped room.

Did they put Bobby Ewing in charge of the project?

I've only stayed there 3-4 times solo, so room size was no problem. The bathroom is a piece of work though.

I stayed one night there a few weeks ago. The room wasn't bad, small bathroom for sure. I had to put the toilet seat down just to flush the toilet. The room was clean, bed was fairly comfortable and the shower worked well so that's really all I wanted out of the room.

I still remember more than a decade or two ago when I stayed at the Fremont. I was brushing my teeth, when done I put my toothbrush on the small counter....and watched it slowly roll into the toilet bowl! It was late and I was tried but just like watching a movie in slow motion my brain didn't react when the toothbrush slowly started rolling. I couldn't believe the counter wasn't designed to prevent things from falling in the toilet.

Had to go to walgreens to pick up a new toothbrush.
