As I had mentioned earlier I was planning on this being a surprise birthday trip for my hubby. I could not keep the dang secret but the good thing was we got to plan a lot of stuff we wanted to do (which we love to do on any vacation). Left our house at 3:15 to get to the airport. Parked in B5 and we were immediately on the bus. My first hiccup....apparently the bling on my back pockets caused a little issue and I got a little pat down before getting to my gate. No stress - I want to be safe when we fly and it's just a little hiccup. Flight: Flew Southwest and left Kansas City at 6:00 AM and landed at 9:30 or so. Smooth flight - not a full flight so we were able to have the middle seat open. I did have Presidential Limo pick us up (round trip airport) and that was a surprise!!! I was looking for our driver and all of sudden my husband stopped and said "why is that guy holding a sign with my name"? It was a little more expensive than a taxi but will def use them again. Much more pleasant start to our trip. Our plane was in a little early so we had extra time and he drove us around showing us all the new improvements to downtown area. Four Queens: Room was not ready and that was okay. Room was promised to be ready at 1....still not ready. Was finally in our room by 4. We did not use maid service - they never seemed to get to our room until after 4 and I just went and swapped clean towels. All was good. Room was nice and quiet (I did hear the band playing one night but it was nothing I couldn't sleep through). Sure the bathroom was a little small - but I"M ON VACATION. We did not spend much time in our rooms and it met all our needs with no problems. Having a fridge in the room was nice too. Dining: We had all these plans of where we were going to eat - yeah we didn't make it to but a couple. We are not Foodies. So nothing special is needed for us. Magnolia Café @ Four Queens: With the comps the Four Queens offers we couldn't pass it up. So we ate breakfast there and a early dinner and the food was good. Our service was great (cashier seemed a little uptight) and recommend it. Binions BBQ: Not impressed. We live in the Kansas City area and we have good bbq. Service lacking here. Binions Steakhouse: LOVED IT! From the view, to our waiter, the food. It was a perfect evening. They even finished our meal with chocolate cake and ice cream for Dave's birthday. It was not too expensive (especially with the coupon they give you at the Players club desk and your comps). Think it was around $60 + tip. Well worth it. Mob Museum: Dave loved this!! He enjoys all the mob stuff and we were there over 4 hours. Gambling: We stayed downtown for the entire trip this time. Spread our funds around to all the casinos. But can honestly say we won the most at Golden Nugget. One machine was Dave's personal ATM. We arel low rollers so 60 cents is usually our betting. Things I didn't like: 1. All the babies/kids while the light show was going on. I just felt so sad for the kids with all the noise and people pushing. Do not bash me for this - not my kids I know. Just not a great place for kids to see. 2. Had one young man come up behind me (I was all alone in this area of the casino) and ask me for money for food. I told him no and then beat myself up for not getting him some breakfast. A hour later Dave and I saw him standing in one of the black circles in front of Four Queens with a cardboard sign that said "go f**k yourself. Really … people were giving him money. Flight home was pretty full and we slept most of the way home and landed at 11:00 and home by midnight. I had planned on using the money envelope system but we won enough the first day to keep us going....we brought money home and that is most unusual! A big thank you to everyone who posts on this board. We were able to plan a fun trip and relax for a few days.
