I will give this a try, never written a trip report before. My week is a bit of a blur but I will do my best
This trip was just with my husband a holiday we both needed dearly and wanted just the two of to go so we didn't have to please other people, we do like traveling with other people but this was the first time in a long time for just us.
Flew with Delta, both there and back were uneventful, no problems at all
First four nights were at Bally, did the $20 trick and got a North Tower on a supposed diamond level, girl at check in said only differencw with this room compared to a delux was the coffee pot, which came in handy in the morning. No complaints with room very big and clean, maid service was very good.
The days are a blur but I will try my best. The first night we walked over to Ellis Island and had there steak dinner, good as usual. Did not venture to far that night we were both tired from being up at 4:30 in the morning. Next day did a little bit of shopping, which is hard to get my husband to do, went to what was formerly called Belz Outlet. That night walked the strip up to Wynn. Day three went to Tx4Tonight and got George Wallace tickets, show was really good. We had a car went to Lake Las Vegas out of curiosity. Did more strip walking again that night. On this trip because having a car we went to alot of Casino's that are not on the strip, such as Cannery, South Point, etc. cannot remember them all. The last night on strip ate at Margaretville because a friend of mine wanted me to take pictures of the inside because was there with the girls last year and forgot to take pictures.
Most of our gambling was done within the Harrahs properties. When we checked out we already had 2 nights comped and when I handed her my players card got an additional $49 off, sweet.
Three nights were downtown at the El Cortez. We had a Tower Room, need to know why when you book a room far in advance they give you a crappy room, when we went to look out the window which was room 201 could not see out the window. I called downstairs and asked to be changed because felt claustrophopic (sp) not beeing to see out the window and low and behold the moved us to room 801 which had a beautiful view of the strip. The room as actually very nice, bathroom a little small, but the sink is separate from the bathroom so that helped. They had like goodie bags with all kinds of things in them such a facial scrubs, toothpaste etc. Also they gave us really nice razor they did this every morning we were there when the cleaned our room.
Did a lot of walking at night around Downtown, they are really trying to fix it up. The area around El Cortez is looking alot better, felt very safe walking there. Saw Defending the Caveman at Golden Nugget, show was very funny and entertaining, I would recommend this show for sure.
Like I said we had a car so we did do alot of sightseeing outside the Strip area, such as Red Rock Canyon, drove around Lake Mead area, alot of getting lost and seeing diferent neighborhoods as we were looking for other casinos. I actually like getting lost got so see more lol.
Did not do any fancy dinners, just ate when we got hungry and stopped wherever we were and ate there.
Had a really good time but Husband said he would prefer to stay on the Strip but staying downtown was a good experience and said he was glad he did.
Will be going again next Sept. with the girls already counting the days.
Hope you enjoyed the read.
