Those things are dangerous. Even though I watched her pour an insane amount of vodka into the cup I couldn't taste it. Maybe next month I will run an experiment with a plain root beer control.

I love those. Is that from the D?

    Comped drinks I assume. Cool.

Had our first yesterday. Wasn’t on ice and got much better pouring the heavy pour in portions into a cup of ice. As expected, 1 order was enough for two of us, and found I also like the all nighter.

any tips on how you got to that Cosmo gold,
I’m guessing choice $1 or up VP machines?
We got tomorrow night for a shot at it and a good ways to go.
Think mystery box table play rating will keep the offers up but any advice welcome.

I can’t really be bothered to track what play is dropping off when so we’ll just see what happens I guess.

I forgot to post the pics of the room I took on arrival. This was an XX33 room in the south tower.

    IMG_20210717_015029.jpg IMG_20210717_015100.jpg IMG_20210717_015106.jpg IMG_20210717_015149.jpg IMG_20210717_015205.jpg IMG_20210717_015133.jpg

It was a standard Four Queen's room with a couple of negatives.

    • The top of the mini-fridge was covered in crumbs.
    • As you may have noticed, there are connecting doors to the rooms on both sides. That doubles the odds of noise coming through, and the first two nights the guys in the suite next to me would not shut up. And I got the occasional whiff of skunk.
    • The bathroom sink had not been updated to faux stone. I hate the worn paint...it just looks (and probably is) unsanitary.
    • Finally, the stage outside was loud
    IMG_20210717_015244.jpg

Ear plugs didn't really help against the live bands...the bass came through regardless. Luckily I went to bed exhausted every night so I was able to sleep, but not every one will be able to sleep. Tip: ask for a south tower two queen room...those are the "quiet" rooms.

Yes to both. The D McD's is convenient to Four Queen's.

The Amex Centurion lounge has complimentary drinks, but of course you can't get in without a large annual fee card from them so they're not exactly free.

That @bubbakitty has some good ideas.
The same way I make status everywhere: grinding VP :) I went pretty hard there in three days during my first two month trip last year (AKA, the winning trip).

    2020-08-17 5000 PT .50x10 9/6 JoB 6,025 PT
    2020-08-17 1130 PT $226.00 STK 7,155 PT
    2020-08-18 2500 PT .50x10 9/6 JoB 9,655 PT
    2020-08-18 318 PT $ 63.60 China Poblano 9,973 PT
    2020-08-18 35 PT $ 7.00 Truly 10,008 PT
    2020-08-19 2500 PT .50x10 9/6 JoB 12,508 PT
    2020-08-20 375 PT $ 75.00 Momofuku 12,883 PT
    2020-08-20 7654 PT .50x10 9/6 JoB 20,537 PT

That's from the text file I started keeping to track everything last year. So some of the points came from dining, but it was mostly multi-line 50 cent JoB.

It did take concerted effort, but I'd rather give them the $550 expected loss playing $120k of VP than paying a cent of resort fees. Yes, I know I'm not rational.

As bartender Jose at Boars Head would say, "Paid for in a different way." I have the Delta Amex Reserve card which comes in handy when I fly Delta.

I'm a bit jelly for the food you got on the plane ride to Vegas. Delta first class had not-so-good boxed food.

Thanks. Good luck to you too.

You inspired me to play 4000 pt days. I'll send my rotator cuff surgery bill to you :)

Is that hypothetical - or is it actually $120,000 CI on 9/6 Jacks to make Gold? I've been a bit hesitant to start going down the Cosmo path because I know I'll get spoiled quickly (love those rooms) and because I don't like the ambiguity (I prefer knowing how much coin in it takes to get what I want out of the comp system).

Actual. It's $6 coin-in per point, and 20,000 points in 12 months earns Gold tier.

    https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/identity/about

Cosmo aren't dummies, they come out ahead even with the nice 9/6 JoB they offer. But Gold gets you two guaranteed free nights/year + two for a friend and gets rid of resort fees so the "price" is fair to me.

$120,000 coin-in at 9/6 JoB has an EV of -$550. The 20,000 points earned = $200 in free play or comps that offset that down to -$350 EV. Not a bad price for 4 hotel nights at Cosmo.

On top of that they send me two free night offers pretty often and occasional food offers.

BUT, is the soup :feedme: any good? All that stuff is fine unless the soup is sub-par.

Great detail on all of this. Very glad you hit that Royal. Trips are a grind without premiums with kickers or royals. I have gone 0-3 for a royal on my last three trips and it is getting to be most uncool.

Thanks! For some reason, I thought points were based on theo. Oops! This is helpful. Sounds like the perks might be worth the EV depending on circumstances.

Points aren't, but Cosmo knows the precise theo of every machine you play and takes that into account for your offers. So playing $100k coin-in of 9/6 JoB should get about the same offers as $15k coin-in of 6/5 Bonus.

    Nice report @Tarpie!
