While waiting for the royal payout/paperwork, I won $400 on the next machine over in 15 minutes of play. Everything was looking great.

Then the gambling gods got angry. For the final 1250 points I started with the $200 leftover from the royal payout. Then I added $500. Then another $500. Then a $580 ticket :( The bloodbath took 3/8 of the royal back.

In 2,000 hands I got zero quads. It was brutal. I blame the celebratory Lagunitas, which means I blame @bubbakitty ;)

    IMG_20210718_162507.jpg

On the plus side, the machine kept teasing me with dealt 4s to a royal.

    IMG_20210718_164249.jpg IMG_20210718_170241.jpg IMG_20210718_173828.jpg

Oh well. Still hit a royal and I'm still way up on the day and trip. So I shouldn't be complaining.

And I haven't played the $650 of free play yet.

I'm surprised - a host came over to offer me a comp last week. And when they paid me out - they asked if the host had been over yet. I declined, because I wasn't even going to manage to use my Whiskey Licker certificate let alone an additional comp - but it was a nice touch.

Ah, I might have figured out how to spend $75 at WLU. First time at the rotating bar. Bartender forgot the bleu cheese olives (well lit picture). Rotated out of the light before I got them :)

If anyone happens to be downtown stop by and I'll cover a drink/app. I'll be the only tool with a martini at a whiskey bar :)

Once I have food in front of me y'all aren't getting any live pictures :)

I ordered the shrimp ceviche stuffed avocado as an appetizer. A couple minutes later the phone rang...it was the kitchen calling to say they were out of ceviche :( I tried to be healthy, but this is what I ended up with:

    IMG_20210718_193459.jpg

Fried jalapenos and cheese curds. Delicious!

I've had some good burgers at Whiskey Licker Up. This was not one of them:
    IMG_20210718_201721.jpg

This was the Ranch Hand Burger (smoked cheddar, black forest ham, chipotle aioli, sunny side up egg), medium-rare. As can be seen, it was not medium-rare and the egg was not sunny side up. The beef was not seasoned, was unfathomably dry, and while over cooked, somehow tasted like raw, oxidized ground beef. I think it may be the most disappointing burger I've ever had. It was also at room temp, and the fries were cold.

It also took a couple of tries to ask for a beer they actually had. And I swear they told someone they were out of wings.

I'll go back but I doubt I will sit at the rotating bar again. My beers were coming from the main bar and I think food got lost in limbo. At least the view was nice.

It was also surprisingly expensive (by downtown standards). The martini was $18! IIRC, Bombay Sapphire is $12 at Redwood. A martini, app, burger, and 2 beers came to $66.

After dinner I converted $650 of free play. In the 130 hands I did hit a quad, but still managed just an 89% conversion rate.
    IMG_20210718_210740.jpg IMG_20210718_211120.jpg IMG_20210718_211737.jpg

After that I wandered over to the Cal. It was hopping on a Sunday night. I looked at the craps limits but can't remember them today. Market Street was a zoo at 9:30, there was even a line for emeralds+.
    IMG_20210718_213447.jpg

Binion's and Four Queen's had $10 craps, but I went upstairs to Chicago Brewing. Poor Jerrie was still there (she had worked close the night before and open this day...that also turned into close). I finally tried CBC Root Beer with vanilla vodka ala @bubbakitty. It was good root beer, but I didn't taste the vanilla. Maybe that's the point? Either way, all my pictures of it are super blurry...no idea why :D Might have to try it again tonight, for research purposes. I dropped $10 at VP + tip for it

Met my sleeping companions for the night:
    IMG_20210718_221101.jpg IMG_20210718_221225.jpg

They may as well have been performing in my room. Ear plugs don't block out the bass, but luckily I was able to sleep. And I guess rompers are a thing for men now??? I'm going to be annoyed when I find one of these guys half naked at a urinal

All craps at the D was $15 at 10pm. I watched some young guys play the money claw game...so rigged. The claw got almost to the top with a ball and just dropped it. They made the good decision to move to Sigma Derby (a tech was working on one spot, another was out-of-order, and the rest occupied).

And I thought only I (we) had stories like that of famous :feedme:food fails.
No one believes :nono: it but good god I’m glad someone else has that magnetism. It’s hell and quite the experience for the wait staff or bar as they just look at you with like a 14 year old face and “What????” While you try to describe the problem with the order.
I BET if you hit 4 queens before that shift comes on, the root of the problem is the beer  —but not the IpA. It’s that vanilla vodka. !! :drunk: Love getting one to go. :) Great trip so far (quit telling people about redwood……for God’s sake, don’t mention the BAR). o_O

Uh-oh, looks like I triggered a Boyd gaming day.
    IMG_20210719_083759.jpg

I'm working today, but I snuck out at east coast lunch time. I'd been jonesing for some good country fried steak, but Second St has expanded their menu and it now has loco moco on it. That was tempting, but I stuck with the original plan.

    IMG_20210719_085412.jpg IMG_20210719_085415.jpg IMG_20210719_085418.jpg

English muffins are no longer an extra charge...not sure why they ever were. Country fried steak was hot and delicious. Potatoes were meh. And I had forgotten that the corned beef hash here is not very good. The pictures aren't good because they still have dim steakhouse lighting.

I paid with bconnected points, so now I guess I have to gamble at the Cal after work.

Craps at Fremont was $15 at 9am Monday morning. No one was playing.

    Amen!

Yes, Paradise Cafe charged extra. @bubbakitty s favorite bussed-in-server would always say rather loud and warning like, "It's an extra TWO NINETY FIVE!" when I ordered English muffins. I remember it.

It's so sad that the Fremont, of all places is $15. If they dropped it to $10 people would be playing. At $5 it would be full!

After putting in an 8 hours, it was time to do some chores. I didn't mind. The chores were: deposit winning at bank, pay off 4Q marker, and payoff Binion's marker. Good chores to have :)

The final chore was to give the Cal some love. I was plodding along at 9/6 JoB when I got dealt another 4 to a royal. Would this turn into amazing two royal trip?
    IMG_20210719_164350.jpg

    IMG_20210719_164357.jpg

Nope. And I even blew the $30 dealt flush. I didn't want to have to go back to the bank anyway o_O

It was not a great session, and I ended up down more than a buy-in. The gambling gods turned on me as soon as the W2 was delivered yesterday.

No descending escalator pic since there was no ascending escalator.

    IMG_20210719_165910.jpg

Market Street as usual had a line down to Redwood at 5pm.

I checked out Benny's Smokin' BBQ for dinner but when I saw a server bringing food in from the cafe I decided to pass. Ended up at Le Thai before happy hour ended, but I still paid full price for a Blooming Basil. But the tasty thai spiced/lime peanuts were on the house.
    IMG_20210719_172954.jpg IMG_20210719_173147.jpg

I ordered HH Waterfall Beef and HH Chicken Satay. Both were great as usual. As the bartender was putting the order in, I noticed the special of chicken skins. I had to add those on.

    IMG_20210719_173803.jpg IMG_20210719_173819.jpg IMG_20210719_173834.jpg

Unfortunately I did not care for them. They were like overcooked bacon...brittle and dry. But between the three dishes and Beerlao, I had more than enough food.

    IMG_20210719_183047.jpg

Craps was $15 at the Cal, so I'm going to stick with VP when I head back over in a few. Hope Fremont St security doesn't need to use the OD kit on me tonight!

This claw game is rigged. The outcome is predetermined just as a regular slot is as soon as you push the button via the random number generator. Tricks people to think it is a real claw skill based game.

    Congrats on the royal!

After dinner I clawed back $100 from the Cal. The craps table was still $15, but can't really blame management when there is a line.
    IMG_20210719_194534.jpg

I was about to walk out the door when I remembered that I had a whopping $15 of free play. Turned 100% of that into cash money...hope I didn't bankrupt the Cal :) Oh, that's right, they still had $500 of my US dollars from the pre-dinner session. Oh well, I hope it keeps the free rooms and Redwood meals coming.

My sleeping companion's from the night before had moved to the First Street stage.
    IMG_20210719_212717.jpg

If you like classic rock, you'll like these guys.

I thought I would be sleeping with this lady that knows how to press play and stand on a stage.
    IMG_20210719_213156.jpg

But after grabbing a $20 quarter DDB win, and unordered IPA, and a root beer and a TON of vanilla vodka at Chicago Brewing, it turned out I slept with these guys last night.
    IMG_20210719_221916.jpg IMG_20210719_220946.jpg

If you like party country, you'll like these guys (Friends in Low Places, Chicken Fried, Wagon Wheel). They were still playing when I woke up in the middle of the night.

Today was hectic. It's not really possible to put in an eight hour day and then head to the airport and get back east the same day. Most flights leaving mid-late afternoon involve a redeye. I scheduled the 1:15pm non-stop flight home. The plan was to finish my 10:00 PDT work call then run and catch the 10:26 CX (or 11:26 if the call went long).

But first, breakfast of champions! And early morning zip line maintenance (which is reassuring to see).
    IMG_20210720_075457.jpg IMG_20210720_074939.jpg

IMHO, sausage egg mcmuffins are the perfect fast breakfast food.

As soon as my work call was finished, I tossed my laptop in my luggage and booked it to the Casino Center bus stop. As the bus got closer it started showing up in the wrong place on the Transit app. Not again! With a quick google I found https://www.rtcsnv.com/ways-to-travel/schedules-maps/alerts-detours/

    About the CX:
(SB) – Until further notice (24/7): From SB US-95 (DO NOT EXIT AT CASINO CENTER), Exit LVB, Right LVB, Right Stewart, Left Casino Center, BOR.

Hmmm...that means it still should have hit the Casino Center stop. The real-time location showed it cruising south on Main St.

Luckily the Uber price was just $21 and it didn't take too long to arrive. And it was way faster than the bus so I was able to spend more time in the Centurion Lounge That was nice because I missed getting upgraded on the flight and I got to get "free" lunch in the lounge. And a drink of course.

    IMG_20210720_120835.jpg

I'm halfway home. It's not first class, but I've got an empty middle so I'm just as happy.

Reviewing my records just brought a smile to my face. The June 14-24 trip was a debacle. This trip directly cancelled it out and I came out ahead $26.75 between the two trips :woohoo: That is just straight up gambling results, including free play conversion. Between the two trips I earned directly:

    $ 17 BConnected Pts
    $152 CZR RCs
$716 4Q Comp (not sure why this isn't closer to $680...prob a mistake in my spreadsheet)
    $202 4Q cashback
    $681 Binion's Comp
    $200 Binion's cashback
    -----------------------
    $1968

Indirectly, in the future I'll get more free rooms and hopefully generous free play.

I was kind of pessimistic after 10 days of losing in June, so it was nice to erase that trip.

The plan is to come back in mid-August:

Of course, I'll earn 4000 pts at both 4Q and Binion's (and I plan to cash out the points this trip...the balance is getting too high to risk losing).

CZR is running another decent promo Aug 12-15 (Casino Play Frenzy)...12,000 TCs = $1,600 free play for me. I will probably earn 12,500 TCs to maximize daily bonuses. That makes the EV of the offer -$275 (not including RCs), but that's a good deal for a ton of tier credits. I'll be just one 2,500 TC day away from renewing 7*.

And I have until 8/22 to re-up Gold at Cosmo. I've been thinking of making an attempt at Platinum (so they'll assign me a host who I can then harass about the host office cancelling my marker). My first Identity points were earned in 8/17 last year. Luckily I have a 2 night free offer from Cosmo.

Thanks for following along. Hope the meal reviews/pics and game condition reports were helpful.
