Yep, I probably did a few times this month, with flats on the subways and changing into heels before going into a big meeting or event, often outside and sans bench. Sometimes I just lean against a store front and luckily have good balance and my stocking feet never hit the ground. :)

Still in line, lol. It’s been an hour and 15 minutes now. Very close, wasn’t even tempted once to bail.

Also, Eastside Cannery took an unbelievable turn in the absolute best way possible. I emailed the manager who I spoke to, to ask her to reimburse me for the difference in hotel rates as well as the cost of my Uber downtown, since the room was blatantly misrepresented. To be clear, that isn’t a lot. Literally just $11.18 for the hotel rate difference and $13.40 for the Uber ride. $24.58 total. Nobody is getting rich or poor from that, but just as a courtesy principle, I don’t think that’s unreasonable to ask.

    She replies with this...

The suites she’s referring to are their “premier” suites, which are on the top floor and have a jetted tub. There’s also quite a price difference compared to the baseline room...

So basically I just got a $200+ per night upgrade for a one-time expense of less than $25. Doesn’t make any business sense at all... but it’s good enough for me. Henderson is a high priority for me on my next trip to spend more time at Water Street (and probably hit Cowabunga Bay if it’s in the summer). So based partially on the location, I’ll forget what I said about not staying there ever again if I can get a suite of that magnitude for $30ish per night.

That Eastside Cannery “if available” clause may be important to consider.

    Way ahead of you :)

I mean it’s a perfectly reasonable clause to have. They’ll obviously comp it to high rollers or sell it for full price on an occasion like NYE or Valentines Day. But you’re right, it’s important to be clear about for sure.

Thanks for posting the pictures from Blueberry Hill. There is no BB dish I do not like, especially breakfast dishes. I have to check that place out!

The muffin I took home was actually the best part. I’ve had some fancy baked goods in my lifetime, and this was among the most memorable.

When I log into my Club D account, it says you can use your comp dollars at: Project BBQ, Bocho, Le Thai (I have used mine there!) La Comida, Pizza Rock, 7th & Carson, & Eureka.

Just read from your very first post to the end. There are no words to express fully how amazing, fun and informative your trip report has been and how kind you are to share the details. From that amazing breakfast -- loved the diverse protein with alcohol and antioxidant berries!! -- to the Beard of Knowledge and spending time with wonderful VMBers.

I am totally bummed you aren't extending your stay but I am wishing you an amazing final night and day for this trip in Vegas!!

It sounds like you have a full schedule but after the Oyster Bar you should at least check out the Bingo room at Palace, even if you don't play.

I am learning more about The D. I think you have to use food and beverage credit at The D but you can use points earned by playing anywhere in The D, GG and at the outside restaurants, like Le Thai (which I have done) and Pizza Rock.

Hopefully a regular The D visitor can confirm as I will be there in less than 2 weeks!

You may be right about that Flowers. I know on the one trip I ate at both Pizza Rock & Le Thai, but unsure if I used just my points or my promo $$

Actually it makes sense to me, and I'd expect her to offer something like that. You talk about "business sense", but those in casino management can tell you that there is a big difference between a soft comp, and a hard comp (one where the casino has to actually pay out cash). Your figure of "$200 a night upgrade" is not the casino's cost of extending that room comp to you.

I don’t disagree with you, you actually do raise a very good point with the upgrade being a soft comp, versus cash being a hard comp.

It is a pretty big value disparity though... especially when you consider that they have only five of those suites. So when I ultimately occupy one, it’s possible they may not be able to accommodate a guest who is actually paying for it or getting it comped. Someone who is getting that suite comped is probably generating no less than $800 per day in theo... so if I’m occupying it for three nights, that would translate to $2,400 in lost theo, assuming such a player would go elsewhere. That’s 100x the amount they’re trying to not pay me.

So we’re on the same page in principle, but this feels like it will ultimately cost them way more than $24, whether that’s in opportunity cost, or the hard costs of the suite itself.

I'm not so sure we are on the same page. How about talking to a couple of hosts there and ask them about what it takes to get a hard comp approved for a non high roller? Find me a single trip report here where someone had a casino write them a check for an expense they incurred due to a problem!!! I'll wait till you get back to see if you can find one. Wonder why you can't find one out of the hundreds (thousands?) of trip reports posted here?

Also, I don't agree with your 2,400 figure either. Countless suites are given to low roller people checking in who do the $20 trick. Some go empty waiting for a last minute possible high rollers. I'm not going further with this one, but just had to chime in when you claimed that they had no business sense in this situation. It makes total casino business sense to me.

I’m surprised they don’t use a text message system at the Oyster bar. They can have people playing slots instead of waiting in line.

Just taking a break from the Qua baths. It’s good, it’s worth the $60, and it’s far swankier than the Aria spa. But for some reason I prefer the Aria spa over this. No complaints though.

    Also, y’all saw this coming...

Kept getting 3OAKs and this happened...

Got greedy. Whatever. Back to the spa now.

I like both. And I can see how someone may prefer Qua (I prefer Aria). But swankier??? No way
