I've heard it's not good, but haven't stayed there myself.

Depending on the time of year they may get a decent deal at Tuscany. That place is much better.

I've never set foot in the place but it gets a 2 1/2 rating out of 5 on Trip Advisor. And it has a $10 resort fee.

Well, some years back it was on "Hotel Impossible" (https://lasvegassun.com/vegasdeluxe/2014/feb/10/q-anthony-melchiorri-cleans-las-vegas-hotel-fortun/), so maybe it's gotten better. According to Trip Advisor, 26% of ratings were "fair", while 46% were "poor to terrible" and "28% were "excellent and very good". If your pal is just looking to stay in out of the rain, this might pass. But, as pointed out above, there might be better options. Remember, we live in a you-get-what-you-pay-for world.

I was looking for a room on Saturday Feb 23rd. The Fortune was easily the cheapest at $36 next cheapest was $64. The rest $100+ I assume this is why your friend was asking. I deceided to wait until Sunday 24 to avoid this dump.

I've booked the fortune hotel before, using booking.com. Other than first night deposit that was all I was charged. I cancelled when I found a better place to stay (found a place to stay downtown) and a day or two after I cancelled they refunded my deposit.

I read reviews on tripadvisor about this hotel and would consider staying here. I rather stay downtown so would rather pay a little more to stay downtown but if this hotel was way cheaper than the other hotels I would stay here, esp if the rates were like ncfwest.

Tell your friend to spend a little more and stay in a safe environment. Years from now when they are on their death bed they wont be cursing to the heavens that they had to spend an extra $50 in 2019 in a hotel that isnt trash...

$50 a night difference but for a 4 night stay it will be an extra $200. 6 night another $300. To look at the Fortune to me seems like his friend is looking for a lower end hotel so not sure if the friend wants to spend an extra $200 to $300 for a stay. But that's JMHO.

I have heard that it's dirty and unpleasant. Not from tripadvisor, from people I know and trust.
