Traveled with a buddy out of Houston. Flight was smooth. Baggage claim quick. Taxi to Flamingo blazing. Skipped normal Flamingo check-in delay with the night time Diamond check-in. Off to the 22nd floor Go room with Bellagio water show view, within minutes. Played 2-4 limit poker at Flamingo until our other buddy showed up. He was staying 2 nights at Planet Hollywood on a $29 a night offer. Then he was moving to Flamingo for the other 3 nights. We left the poker room to check out PH. Our buddy was excited as he was upgraded to a suite. When we got over there, he let us know it was a Cher suite before we entered the room. It was a nice room with seating area and 40" flat panel TV, king size bed with another 40" flat panel TV, and a big bathroom with big round love tub and separate shower. It was cool. Although, we had to give him hell for the Cher vibe. All in good fun. During the trip we play a lot of poker. A few free rolls, with the hours we put in. I hit a straight flush. My buddies hit a straight flush and the other quads. I think we all got aces cracked bonus at least once. We played Pai Gow and my buddy hit 2 straight flushes. One without the bonus bet. The second one he was on the 6 card straight flush, when I looked over to see the 7th card peek out. Damn 8 of hearts. He already had the 8 of diamonds. It turned out, I had the other 2 natural cards that would have filled it out right next to him. That buddy always jokes about writing a book on how to play. He is the luckiest son of a gun on that game. We played some at Oshea's. Let it Ride. I was up 60 there. I also played the new carni game there, casino backgammon. They had a shill playing it trying to drum up business. They also had a hot woman handing out the how to play card, so I was interested. I threw down 60 of their money to have a little fun. Basically, there are 2 bets (jump and out). Jump bet is one dice shot to see what value shows up on each of the 2 dice. If that amount is greater than the number of moves to get the checker past the jump line, then you win. 1 = 3 to 5, 2 = 2 to 1, 3 = 3 to 1, 4 = 10 to 1, 5 = 40 to 1. You start at 1, so you can't get 1/1, 1/2, 2/1. Everything else wins the jump bet. The out bet is based on 2 (or 3 with doubles on 1 or 2) rolls to get both checkers off the board. So, you start with needing 7/7 or better on the 2 rolls. 3/2 + 4/5 would work. That payout is 1 = 1 to 1, 2 = 1 to 1, 3 = 4 to 1, 4 = 5 to 1, 5 = 9 to 1. Then you have the option of playing from the 2 spot if you made your jump bet on 1. Same thing continues. I broke even, after playing for 30 minutes. I can't see this making it. We went by there every night and they had one of two shills there every night. I played from the 3 spot twice, and won it once on both bets. Other than that we stayed on the 1 and 2 spots. We finally made it downtown this trip for my buddies that had never been. We had walked down to TI to check out Gilley's. Then walked over to Wynn to catch a cab. When we made it downtown, I did not know what my buddies were thinking. They seemed out of it. We watched a show (Kiss), then grabbed something to eat at Magnolia's. We then played some at the Four Queens. That was the first place I hit a royal (progressive .25 1700), so I enjoyed playing there for a little while. I put in 20 and played .25 DB. Hit a few quads (Aces and 4s), and then moved to $1. I got that up to 900 before I pissed it down to 220. We then played some BJ switch there as my buddy wanted to. I think I won a few more bucks. Then we headed back to the Flamingo. We never hit the pool once this trip. One guy did. We suited up and was headed down one afternoon, when he called and said it was dead and heading back up. We ate at Margaritaville a couple of times. I like that place, and I can use my comps there. Did try the buffets deal. Saturday night at Rio, which is always good. Sunday brunch at Flamingo, which was ok. We just ate generic breakfast stuff. Then Sunday evening at PH. I did like PH. I just did a sampler type plate to see how everything was. We hit the PH diamond lounge and I was full from the Rio buffet, so I did not check out the food. My buddies had some deserts. PH did have a 103 inch flat panel TV in the back of the lounge, which we watched the Suns/Spurs on. Good drinks. The PH in general had lots of talent walking around there. We did not gamble there. I take that back, I did blow 100 there on VP. We tried to watch peep show, but had some difficulties getting the comped tickets. So, maybe next time. My buddies are thinking 5 nights it too long. Maybe 3 or 4 next time. I might try PH next time. All in all it was a fun trip. We all left down in the bank roll. I was up from poker, but not much. That is my drinking game (2-4 limit). I left with just about the same reward points as I started with this trip. I did reach my Diamond status again for the next year. This is my second trip of the year.
