My first stay ever was at the Jockey Club with my parents in 1975. I think we were there for a convention. We saw the movie “Jaws” and I remember vaguely going into Circus Circus for trapeze shows and seeing the live lion at the MGM (now Bally’s). My mom carried a cup full of quarters everywhere.

First stay as an adult was at Flamingo in 1989. The Mirage had just opened and my friend hit $400 on a dollar slot and thought he broke the machine because it wouldn’t stop spitting out coins. That was in the days of change ladies who worked up above a circle of slot machines. I still remember filling the plastic racks with dollar coins. That was a big win—between us we probably took $150 in gambling money for the whole trip.

I was 21 years old going out on my first trip with a Vegas regular and he got us comped suites at Caesar's and I spent about 2 days just trying to get out to the main strip it seemed like. This small town boy from Kentucky was completely out of my element but instantly feel in love and blew my entire bankroll in what seemed to be a matter of minutes lol...

My first Las Vegas Hotel was The Flamingo about 30 years ago. It's the only time I've stayed there.

Tam O'Shanter for me. It was right next to the Sands, which was my first Las Vegas casino to play in, and we had the $1.99 steak and eggs at 2AM. Pretty classy for a 21 year old for sure. The Tam O'Shanter sign lives in the Neon Museum!

Flamingo, February 1988. I was with my stepmom and a group of other travel agents from Texas, and their American Airlines rep. Stepmom is NOT a gambler so I waited til she went to bed and I went back down. I was 25 and I was hooked!

Tropicana 1983. Went with the soon to be wife as a newbie. Eye opening. Lost 75$ at craps while she was getting ready in the room. We had 75$ a day budget. Yikes!! She came bounding down and said WTF? And I was a sheep from that point forward. Fortunately won 82.50 on nickels at 4Q’s about 6 hours later. Whew!! Went home and read a book and came back to win at 1$ craps with 5x odds at Binions. What a rush.
The birds in the hallway talking with you and the flamingos in the pool areas were fanciful. First time ever heard the term disneylandforadults.
Goof course behind the MGM and several on the interstate behind the strip. Good times.

Looking at these replies I am a relative newbie to Vegas. My first stay was at the Mirage in 2012.

My first stay was at the Luxor in 1999, as a teenager. The first hotel I booked for my own vacation, 17 years later, was Venetian.
