    My Trip Report

    7/24

Got a ride to RDU to spend the night as we were flying out early the next morning. Stayed at the Hampton Inn, bed was a bit lumpy for me, but it was a place to stay.

    7/25

Up at 3:30 am to catch flight at 6:30 am. Checked our bags which was 25.00 a pop,but we were able to get exit seats, and zone 1 boarding. It was an USAirways flight. The flight was 4 1/2 hours long and most of the time I read while flying, but was able to sleep a bit on this flight.

Arrived in Vegas around 9:30 am, and this is the first time in Vegas this early. I knew that most likely our room would not be ready. We got to Flamingo around 10:30---

CAB RIDE...We had a lady cab driver, and she asked which way we would like to go to the Flamingo, and I said the fastet way you can. Now we were in the back seat talking, and I will admit I was not watching which way she was going. Before I knew what happend I looked up, and the meter said 23.00 and some change as she was pulling into the Flamingo...as she came to a stop she said that will be 26.56 with add ons...I looked at her and she got out of the cab to get our bags. I got out and told her this was the most I have ever had to pay to get from airport to anywhere on the strip...All she would say as I paid her was new pricing...I really wish I would have got her number...I felt raped. Or is there really new prices for cab fairs in Vegas...

    More to come

We got checked in around 11am, and upgraded to a GO room with a pool view. We were told that the room may not be ready until 4pm, but we could start checking around 2pm. So we went to the buffet for lunch. It was not bad, but not the best. We never did go back to Flamingo buffet. Service was good though.

We then walked around the strip for about 2 hours looking around. Stopped in at Bills to play a few slots. We got back to Flamingo around 215pm and we were in our room by 230pm. The room itself was okay and the bed was very nice. It was nice to have a little frig to keep water in. Now we could have done without the pink bathroom, but the glass was very frosted so you could not see in, but I can see where it could bother some. The tub was very deep and it was nice to be able to take a hot bath after walking all day.

One thing about the pillows. They are feather pillows and if you think it might bother you, then you can ask for foam pillows. I had to the next night, as they were driving my nose nuts.

Oh, and we had a pool view and it looks like they washed the windows...Last time I stayed at Flamingo the windows were so dirty you could see the dirt, and spots in the pictures. But they were clean this time, or as clean as they could be.

Also the frig did keep water cold, as some of the small ones don't keep things as cold as you would like.

All in all we were happy with the room...

Sorry but this report may take a few days...as I am hand writing it and the retyping it. Plus I get up at 2am in the morning for work...So I have to type it while I have time...

    More to come....

The freeway is the fastest route, and also the most expensive way to the mid-strip properties. In the summer I prefer to be "tunneled" as taking the surface roads I think is too hot, the AC runs better in the cabs of the freeway.

Our ride to the flamingo was less than $20 including tip, in fact, he got a big tip, I didn't want to bother with change. This was 8/1/10

I had a Go room in June - one of the pillows was feather but one was foam (feather pillows are really uncomfortable for me). I just assumed it was standard, but apparently it's just whatever is happening in that room is what you get :)
