Our December trip will be our 4th trip, but we've always gone Sunday thru Wednesday.

This trip we arrive Friday evening, and will experience weekend nights in Vegas for the first time.

I've heard that Fremont Street can be very different, and have special regulations on the weekends, which take away from the fun a bit. Anything we should be aware of, or avoid, on a Friday or Saturday night? Staying at Flamingo, gambling DT.

    Avoid? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I enjoy Vegas anytime, but the energy is so much higher on the weekend. Have fun.

Weekends on Fremont Street are best - it's got an energy and vibe that's palpable. Special weekend regs? Nope. They're the same all the time. What you're probably hearing about are the Security portals put up during special events and "headliner" concerts. And, on NYE it's paid entry (typically $20).

If on The Strip - same thing, great energy and vibe on the weekends. Just plan ahead if you want dinner at a good restaurant - reservations are recommended.

stop worrying. Bellagio can get very crowded on a weekend night but that's about the only place I avoid. And I don't avoid it like the plague.

I agree with the others that there's nothing really to avoid. I am not a fan of crowds but I think FSE downtown is much more fun when it's full of people.

Dinner waits can be longer on the weekend and show tickets can be harder to obtain, so order/reserve early.

Make reservations for dinner. Head downtown early and pay the premium to use the I-15 if you are cabbing it back.

You may want to avoid Fremont on "First Fridays". ( First Friday of the month )
I don't have a ton of experience with it and the level of crowd varies, but it's something
    to consider.

I used to be like the OP, but now weekends on Fremont are the best. It will be much more crowded with the Cali crowd and more younger people in general. Tables will be crowded. But overall, the vibe is a lot more fun.

One selling point is that departures from McCarran seem to be less hectic.

Nothing really to avoid. Lines can/will be longer. But weekend nights are great, especially DT. Nothing better than a vibrant Fremont St. Unfortunately there are more sorry looking buskers with their ass hanging out, but that's a small price to pay.

The area around the Bellagio fountains got very crowded in the evening, but apart from that everything was great!

Just go with it, the weekends are different, not just busier but 'exciting' - there's a whole different vibe that you don't quite get during the week. I love both but would miss at least one Friday or Saturday night in my trips if I didn't have one! It's Vegas, enjoy!!

Avoid the porn slappers.... as usual ;)

Other than that...nothing to avoid in my opinion. Have fun and enjoy the different (more exciting) atmosphere if you've never experienced it before!
