Hi all, I will be in Vegas from November 17th to November 20th. My best friend from college and I were supposed to go on this trip but her mom is in the hospital. So now, I am on my own. Kinda nervous and excited at the same time. Any advice for solo female travelers? 12249907_792313434211825_3018676344776832124_n.jpg

I'll be there solo the same time you are. I can't speak to the female part, which I'm sure changes things from a feeling safe standpoint, but I have done the solo thing a few times. The big advantage to me is that you can do whatever the heck you want whenever you want. No having to be somewhere if you don't want to in order to appease your travel companions. Also there is a meetup on the 18th. You should definitely come to that!

Have a great time. I am female-old,and love my solo trips. When you talk to people just tell them your hubby is meeting you later. If you feel unsafe, security will walk you to your room. The only time I feel a little queasy is when I am in the elevator late at night, and a bunch of guys get on. Same as any place else, just be aware of your surroundings. I casino hop all day, and at night I get back to my casino area.

    Welcome to the board!
In fact @Lady Fortuna , the co-ordinator of the meet up, is a well seasoned female solo traveler.

I am another old female solo traveler. I keep my drinking within reason, so I am always aware of what's going on. Never flash much cash, and if you have a big win try not to draw attention to yourself (take a check vs cash if it's a really big win). Be especially careful of the people trying to distract you by bumming cigarettes, lighters, or any of their other little tricks. If someone makes you uncomfortable, don't hesitate to talk to security. That is usually enough to get them to disappear.

Mostly, do what you want when you want! Solo trips rock!

    Hi @Keyma623

I'm arriving on the 18th and also traveling solo. This will be my 6th trip, of which the last 5 solo.

In Vegas many people are solo. When I did it the first time, I was also nervous, but I soon realised, that no one really knows who I'm with and if I'm alone or not. Many couples split up in the casino, one plays BJ and the other slots for example. No one knows if your husband is not somewhere in the casino. And think of the convention people, often they are alone too, attending the convention during the day and then having dinner and spend the evening by themselves.

I'm usually going to Vegas for 2-3 weeks and I never had any bad experiences, in regards to being a female and solo. I feel very safe on the Strip and I do the same as Miller12pack does, during the day I explore and in the evenings I stay in the area of my own resort. That's also why I choose my hotels in the area where I like to hang out most, between Harrah's and Planet Hollywood on the East side of the Strip.

I also have a tip, for when you'll still have a moment that the "being alone" feeling creeps up. It is a bit weird, but works for me... Often I read on the board, that from a couple only one likes gambling and they don't want to spend their together time gambling, so they go down to the casino floor, after their S.O. settles into the room to watch some tv or go to sleep. The way they describe their time alone in the casino, is usually filled with pleasure and excitement. So when I got that feeling creeping up, of "everyone can see I'm alone and pities me", I just imagine I'm being the one who "escaped" my non-gambling husband and "finally" get my alone time. I usually picture "the husband" as a grumpy, controlling one (ain't they all? lol, just kidding), to enhance the feeling of being relieved I'm finally by myself and can do as I please. It's just a shift in mind set, but it works really well. Just picture the face of someone feeling alone :( and then picture the face of someone who just escaped their grumpy husband :D:cool:. You see what I mean?

I hope you will come to the meet on the 18th! It is at MGM at 9pm and you can find it here: celebrating-las-vegas-drinks-sunday-18th-nov

I also don't know exactly where it is (Whiskey Down), but I looked it up on Google maps to get an idea:

I don't know where you are staying? But @jer0978 and I will share an Uber from Harrah's to MGM and back, so if you are staying in the area of Harrah's you are welcome to join. Or we could meet you somewhere at a known spot at MGM and find the place together.

That's a plan! I'm sure @jer0978 won't mind to share the Uber with two ladies ;) (or one lady and me :p ).

Travelling to the meet and greet with two beautiful women. I'm not even in Vegas yet and I'm already winning!
