Merle Haggard with Glen Campbell and Buck Owens at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield in 1966. My friend and I drove all the way from the coast to see Merle. He had just released his first album. We were huge country western fans at the time—redneck farmers might be the better description. I think Merle was actually making the move on Buck's wife Bonnie at the time. My musical interests drastically changed in the coming years, especially after seeing the Doors on Ed Sullivan in 1967. But I still loved Haggard, who created what would come to be known as the "Bakersfield Sound."

I love Merle Haggard! My father loved his songs and I can remember when we had two eight ttracks of his greatest hits and listened to them over and over and over…

No concerts until I was an adult. New Edition (reunion tour). I think it was at Constitution Hall in DC and I have no idea the exact year, but I think I was 19 or 20 at the time.

I'll be in California and Vegas is like...right THERE. So...

I must have been around half my height or so....my mom schlepped me to a Boney M concert, with opening act Eruption ("One Way Ticket") back in '75/76 or so?
It was probably the first live concert of any pop band in my tiny little hometown, the mayor was on stage holding a speech, the who-s-who of town dignitaries all on board in the first row.
Most memorable moments: 1.The audience sat still and stiff the entire time. 2. Good ol' Bobby Farrell actually had to sing live.

This is an experience your son will look back on many years from now that the 3 of you did together, and be an amazing memory. Absolutely worth the price of the tickets!

Ha! I was at the same George Harrison concert. Also, Styx played my high school prom. Of course we missed them playing “Lady” because we we outside smoking a doobie…

Why didn't you come and say hello? ;) I remember George was trying to get through Old Brown Shoe and really struggling with his voice. Rock n' Roll history right there! :headbang:

Charlie Daniels Band at Dollywood sometime around 1993. I remember a couple of things:

    1. A young Bull with a rat-tail got waived onto the stage during "The South is Going to Do It Again" and played the air *fiddle.

    2. I got mad when he changed "son of a bitch" to "son of a gun" in "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".

I didn't agree with his viewpoints once I got older, but there is no denying that guy could playthe fiddle.

Well, 1993 was indeed more innocent times. :)

Not to take this whole thread off on a tangent, but one strategy is to use a standard answer (or answers) no matter what the question is. It's not like it matters if your answer to "What brand was your first car?" is "Mittens54321"...just for the sake of argument.

My sister and I were dragged to see The Beach Boys with opener Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at the Garden State Arts Center ca. 1990. We did not enjoy it.

The first concert I attended that I wanted to see was Billy Joel and Elton John at Giants Stadium in 1994. I was 15, and we knew someone who worked at a store where they had Ticketmaster. We ended up on the floor!
