Fire guts historic Mt. Charleston Lodge outside Las Vegas

    We drove up two years ago, thinking we'd have lunch. As mentioned, parking was scarce. The cafeteria-style dining room was packed full, nobody's dishes looked appetizing at all, and the bathrooms were filthy. Like Greyhound station filthy.

    Yes, the area is gorgeous, the views to die for, and Cathedral Rock is spectacular....but that Lodge was an absolute dump.

    I hope they rebuild and make it nice.

    I don't remember it being in poor shape at all, or crowded. I do remember that we had a choice of eating outside or inside, and there was a slight wait for tables inside, but it was chilly outside so we ate inside. I remember the Oktoberfest buffet was good, but nothing outstanding.
