    My Trip Report

I decided to play hookie from work today and make the 2.5 hour drive to Turning Stone. Stopped at TS Rewards first to present my CET Diamond card and get the ONYX Turning Stone match.. Proceeded to craps table. When I got to table the first thing I noticed was no spacing efforts at all. No plexiglass. No spacers (blocks in every other rack. No warning bystanders to step away from the table. Strong enforcement on masks ( was told that I had to drink my coffee through a straw under neath my mask. When i returned from bathroom they did insist i sanitize my hands (dealer actually squirted them. And they sanitized the dice between rolls and when they rolled of table

Left craps after 6 bad rolls ( 1 pass made). Went in search of VP and i noticed that ...
A every machine was turned including every slot machine and
B Everyone was packed on top of each other.

cashed in my 3 $5.00 coupons and left .

Extremely disappointed in the lack of effort in social distancing there. . My local casino is Seneca NIagara and I wasn't overwhelmed by their efforts.. I was reminded that Indian casinos in NYS are not bound by the same rules as non-indian casinos (that have not yet been allowed to open) Ots a sad commentary especially after what New Yorkers have been through, that (IMHO) so little effort is giving by these NYS casinos to help keep us safe. I hope its better in Vegas come October.

I was there once in 2008 or so and have no desire to return. One of the absolute smokiest casinos I've ever visited anywhere.

Amazed that NYS Native American casinos are not following the proper distancing procedures since CDC says virus transmission is more airborne than by touch and especially with the number of deaths in NYS. I would not go back either.

Oneida county (where Turning Stone is located) and Onondaga county (which I would presume is where Turning Stone draws much of it’s customers from) have a combined population of around 675,000. Total deaths so far is roughly 300, which is less than 0.05%. NYC with a population of 8.4 million has seen a total of 23,000 deaths, more than 0.25%.
Not downplaying New York’s death toll at all - it is horrifying. Just pointing out that there is a huge difference between densely populated cities and the rest of the state, much of which is rural.

I've found my local, Atlantic City, to also be unacceptable. They are trying to abide by more strict regulations and I commend them for that as I wouldn't go there without them, but I find the experience with all of the regulations as sub-par for a positive experience. I now realize I wouldn't enjoy the casinos no matter what they did. They are in a no-win situation for me and I'll wait for a vaccine to add it back into my repertoire.

After reading your report from your trip, I came to the same conclusion. I'll be going back to casinos only when there's a vaccine.

My Local In Milwaukee has no table games offered at the moment, so it is of no interest to me

Having witnessed 2 family members, 2 coworkers and 3 people that I knew due from this virus, not sure if I’m feeling more comfortable in a place who’s home county has low Covid numbers. Especially since Del Lago is still closed which means a bunch of folks from Rochester ( Monroe county) are going there. Monroe county is one if the few counties that has seen an uptick recently in virus.

FWIW. Onondaga county has the 3rd highest number of infections ( outside of NYC AREA) in the state. Only Erie county ( where i live) and Monroe county have higher numbers. Not exactly the poster child for a virus free atmosphere by any means. https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/views/NYS-COVID19-Tracker/NYSDOHCOVID-19Tracker-DailyTracker?:embed=yes&:toolbar=no&:tabs=n&:mobile=true

For me it’s, Turning Stone, just not safe given what I saw Saturday. Definitely not
posting this to get into a debate. Everyone makes their own choices. Just thought I’d share some observations.

I wasn’t looking to debate either @Champster1. My comments were more in response to flyguyfl’s post. I was merely pointing out that New York’s staggering numbers were highly concentrated in NYC and the surrounding counties. I think many people tend to forget that there’s a whole lot more NY north and west of Westchester county, but I don’t need to tell you that. ;)
The county I live in (pop ~40,000) has lost 55 people to COVID, 40 of whom were nursing home residents. I don’t personally know anyone who died or even anyone who was hospitalized which could very well affect how I view things. I’m sure your connection to family/coworkers has had an impact on your viewpoint too. At the end of the day we all get to make our own risk vs reward assessment. I appreciate your info.

    That is heartbreaking.

I would not feel comfortable in that facility either. Our local Tribal is being VERY careful. The only death we have had in our county so far was a Tribal member & they normally have more historic health problems. No table games yet, no hotel, no food, no music, no smoking/vaping, 2 machines on in banks of 4 to 6 machines - others in circular set-ups. Temperature on entry, masks required, sanitizer wipe buckets out, push service button for machine wipe-down.

I'm just amazed they wouldn't be taking the conservative approach & then expanding as it goes.

Any death is so painful to hear but when I see that nursing home number, what comes to mind are elderly people passing away with no loved ones with them. Praying every day for a vaccine asap!
