After the longest hiatus in 16 years, I finally booked a return bout for next month ā my annual Halloween trip! I haven't been to Vegas since Jan. 31; but surprisingly, haven't suffered any withdraw symptoms. There are several reasons for the break, but the main one was just being burned out going alone the last several times. While I used to love the occasional solo trip, it proved too much of a good thing. Baring a new development, I'll still be going alone, but it's about time and I hate staying home on Halloween. This will also be my shortest trip (5 nights) in the last 16 years, a lot of that having to do with Boyd tightening the free room screws. I could probably beg an extra night or two and still might try, but I felt compelled to lock something in before changing my mind. Not having paid for a room for longer than I can remember, I was shocked to see what they're now charging even with discounts. I guess we need another recession to set things right again! LOL Now that a trip's booked, I probably become a lot more active again on VMB.
Gee Sonya, Gold Coast and Orleans are beneath my countdown timer! I'd like to stay downtown, almost always at MSS, but I've already seen the Halloween Parade and once was enough. There were other factors in my decision, and if I had a couple more free nights, I'd probably be there.
Apparently, I'm having problems with reading comprehension. I swear I looked at your timer and didn't see it. I was hoping we can find a way to cross paths in late October.
I agree, things must be good right now for the casinos. I guess your pre-occupied figuring out your White Castle clothes. I've been going to Krystal in blue jeans, ut-oh.
Great news, Turtleman! Have a great trip! (And thank you for putting "Gold Coast & Orleans" under your countdown timer! I noticed it right away! @Sonya ) RICHARD
Hope this is your best trip ever Turtleman! I remember you heading out solo the first time. I hope that time has healed and you'll hit Vegas running. I'm rooting for you!
Actually, my very first Vegas and casino experience was a solo trip over 32 years ago when the company I had recently joined sent me to work their convention booth. Fortunately, I met another company employee and Vegas virgin from another division around my same age and we had a blast. I've made several just-for-fun solo trips since then, but going alone ALL the time just isn't the same as when I had a loving (I thought) gambling partner. Maybe after 2 years of trying to get my sāt together, things will improve. Thanks for everyone's comments.
Have a great time Turtleman sometimes a break away from a place can be good rather than keep going and ruining the experience. Loved your skydiving thread you did btw and nice to do different things once in a while (Stratosphere jump should be piece of piss for you)? Hopefully you find a gambling partner soon to spend Vegas time with. Anyway nice to see you coming out of your shell again
Hey Now! Look for Sweet Ti and I at the Wally Gator shortys TM. Maybe I can talk Stretch into joining us. We will be there till noon on the 1st.
You look for me too, although Vern won't be coming. (It just doesn't look all that swift to be carrying around a stuffed animal by myself.) I'll be at the Orleans from Oct. 29 and leaving very early on Nov. 1. Say hi to Stretch for me.
