Gold Coast: low key, lots of VP machines; $5 double deck blackjack; decent sports and race book with mostly friendly ticket writers; Noodle Bar good; Ping Pang Pong excellent; Buffet cheap, breakfast better than dinner; bowling alley; and right across the street from Rio and Palms (hopefully those properties will come back at some point).

Orleans: most of the same reasons as GC—they are sister properties. Plus, Orleans has an arena with basketball, hockey and concerts (hopefully those will come back some day as well).

I'm completely at a loss on the restaurant issue at SP. I have been to all of them except Michaels and have never worn anything but shorts and either a nice tee or a polo. Dress code has NEVER been an issue. During the rodeo all you'll see is jeans. Something doesn't add up.

Anyone who's read any of my posts know I love South Point. If you're a local, you should definitely establish some play there. If you're a table player, chat up the pit folks. Most are great with comps. For recent info on SP, read my trip report I posted yesterday.

Just got back from a trip last week. We spent more time playing off strip than any previous trip. My daughter and I stayed at Aria and quickly realized we were not comfortable walking on the strip in the evenings. Luckily we had a rental car and headed out to off strip casinos the rest of the week.

Southpoint and GVR were 2 of our favorites in the past. Very clean, friendly dealers, and good food options. They didn’t disappoint this trip either. We also went to Santa Fe Station, for the first time, on our way back from Mt Charleston and enjoyed our time there as well.

We will plan to stay off strip, if/when we decide to go back. I’m making a list from this thread.

I also have eaten in every restaurant in SP. Wore shorts in the summertime. Never a problem. Dressed in nice jeans for Michaels.

I'll cast a vote for Southpoint..i'm probably a bit biased since i'm a bowler and travel for the USBC Open Championships that seem to be held there on a yearly basis now. For me there is a good enough selection of food for any hour of the day and i'll enjoy a cup of coffee relaxing in the sportsbook watching whatever game(s) that happen to be on. Hopefully when May rolls around next year, normalcy will be somewhat headed in the right direction.

Cool, nice looking: M Resort, GVR, Red Rock, Palms
Good gaming: Ellis Island, Gold Coast, Sam's Town

I go to Ellis Island and Gold Coast pretty much every trip. The rest are in between.

When my wife and I want to get away from Fremont St. or the strip, we drive out to Sunset Station for the lunch buffet (pre covid, of course). Great value, and always enjoyed the food. Fiesta Henderson an alternative, for the same reason.

Orleans and Gold Coast for the casinos and restaurants.
    M Resort, for the rooms.

Do you remember the craps mins at Arizona Charlie's? I've never been but thought about stopping there and The STRAT since they are owned by the same people.

I’m sure a lot has changed since as that was in May 2019, but at the time they were $5 minimums. Table didn’t open until about 10am and had a skeleton crew on it.

It’s Vegas but not overblown/in-your-face Vegas. I’m not even sure why I like it so much? Probably because it just has enough to get me by for 2 nights without it feeling pretentious...

In a way, it's Classic Vegas (tm).

Lotsa fun, lotsa value! I also tend to win there more than at the Strip places.

We love going to the M for the sushi at Jayde Fusion and sorbet/gelato at Baby Cakes. The gambling is Luke warm there, but a beautiful casino/hotel.

For straight gambling, gotta be Gold Coast, Sam’s Town, and Sunset Station. Just seems like I can win there more consistently.

Opera House is closed permanently. On Yelp it says it's going to be a Dotties.

The Western has also been closed since 2012. Time to update that list.

Silverton, but I think we chatted about our love for this place. I’ve been meaning to try GVR, just haven’t made it there yet. I’ve heard nothing but absolutely great things about that place!

I'd try Southpoint, drive around for a while, then go back to Southpoint
