We've been trying to plan a trip and so far haven't been successful this year. :( It's a bummer for people who like to wander as much as we do.

I keep saying "Let's pop over to our favorite place on the Oregon Coast" and Dan wants to go mt bike riding in Bend. I'd do SunRiver but it's all hot and crowded there now. Can't we wait until September for the kiddies go back to school? We were there for Christmas a couple years ago and it was wonderful. Then the weekend after the holiday, people started to arrive. There was a line up of like 3 kids for the snow tubing course. :)

    I love a resort in the off-season.

Yep, Bend in September. But watch the closing time on the new Mt. Bachelor mtb park; there's plenty of single-track over there.

In-season travel sucks. NO. THANK. YOU. We have the ability not to have to do it and it rocks. Now my upcoming Bend trip is in season, but we rented private -- cheaper than even a shitty hotel -- and we're playing golf, and that's not exactly turista. For a getaway? Apres-Labor Day, s'il vous plait. And if we push back into early October it really opens up some other great places, like the Colorado Plateau being discussed on that other thread.

I was thinking of doing a last minute trip to these places as well. Leaning towards Charleston right now...

Not a local restaurant but Din Tai Fung is good. They have restaurants across Asia and the US (mainly the West Coast).

We're really torn between a road trip-type excursion -- and we've mapped out trips through Utah, Montana and BC/AB -- or immersion. We'd even hop a plane to the Southern Hemisphere if the right price somewhere cool pops up.

and the decision is made. Back to England for two weeks. Looking at side trips now as the middle of the trip will be a wedding.
Fly to Amsterdam - day tour there and train to paris for a couple of days is looking good right now. Take some Danish relatives around southern England and a day trip to London to hit some of our hot spots there. a few visits to friends should round it out. plus relatives. Not much time to relax.. 100 acre wood trip is a must... :D

It's been a few years now but we really enjoyed San Antonio. I said if we ever make it back, we are staying at the hotel that is right on the Riverwalk.

Looks like Utah has gone bye bye. Vancouver-Whistler, Yellowstone-Grand Teton and the Canadian Rockies are the leading candidates. But if some super-good airfare to Iceland or Lima or wherever pops up ...
