    The Civil War's first big battle was on Wilmer McLean's property in/near Manassas VA. He moved to escape the war. Ironically he moved to Appomattox VA where four years later General Lee surrendered to General Grant in his house. So the war, for all intents and purposes, began and ended on his property.
