Prosecutors in Oklahoma have brought misdemeanor cruelty charges against two (former) prison guards who allegedly ordered handcuffed prisoners to stand at attention while the tune Baby Shark was played repeatedly at very high volume over the sound system. A prison supervisor was also charged for knowing about the stunt and not doing anything about it, although he was not directly involved. (Bay-bee shark doo-doo doo doo doo-doo ...)

"The Trumpet Player", ca. 1810, by Johann Friedrich Kaufmann, is regarded as the world's first human-like robot. It has survived in partly-operable shape and is now in the collection of the Deutsches Museum in Munich. It is operated by a crank-wound spring motor and has leather bellows for lungs. When fully operable, it was able to sound two simultaneous different tones.

In September of 2020, astronomers in Hawaii sighted an uncharted small astronomical object heading in the direction of the Earth's orbit. This was during a routine scan of deep space, looking for objects that may wander into Earth's path. The object was added to the International Astronomical Union’s list of asteroids and given the designation of 2020SO. Astronomer Paul Chodas inspected the object further, and determined that it was not a stray asteroid, but the spent stage of a rocket, once on a lunar mission 54 years ago. In 1966 the spent rocket stage was discarded and aimed toward the sun. Instead of impacting the sun, the piece of space junk assumed a nearly-circular orbit around the sun. The chance of any danger from the object is so small as to be statistically insignificant.

<< Tourists that visit Singapore are allowed to bring chewing gum with them, but only maximum of two packs per person. Any more than that and they will be susceptible to be charged with "gum smuggling" which carries the penalty of one year in jail and $5,500 fine. >>

@Breeze147, I appreciate the "Born on this date" posts. I sometimes copy and email or post them on Facebook to friends and relatives who share that day's birthday. If we're ever in Vegas at the same time, the "thank you!" drinks are on me.
