We're staying at Excalibur the first weekend of March (only b/c of basketball tourney at Orleans/no rooms available). Booking through MLife got us a "Run of Hours" room (whatever they can find at check-in).

We've been offered an upgrade (for a fee; not a lot) to a "Resort Tower King". Is anyone familiar enough with their rooms to tell whether it's actually worth it? ie, with ROH, might we end up with something older, updated, etc?

Thanks in advance.

This is not an upgrade. Royal Tower rooms are more expensive than Resort Tower rooms.

What you get is the bedding guarantee. "Run of House" means you will be assigned a room at check-in and have no right for a certain bedding.

There is really no upgrade just an up sale. Maybe a $20.00 hand trick at check in may get you a good view of the strip.

From what I've read, the Royal rooms are updated/remodeled rooms. I stayed in a Royal room during my May 2015 trip & was pleasantly surprised. I'm staying in a Royal room for my May trip this year.

This a great point on run of house rooms, it's often luck of the draw whether it's a king or two queens. If it's someone you don't want to share a bed with (friend), it'd be worth the upgrade. (But even then, nothing is EVER totally guaranteed until check-in.)

Thanks, all, for the replies. Maybe we'll check in late and they'll have to give us a Premium Room (do they have suites?). Btw - years ago we were asked to move from our room as it was one of the few with a hand railing in the tub (for the disabled). I asked for and received a comp for the steakhouse .... ;)

I stayed in a Royal Tower room last month at Excalibur, nothing too special. The walls are like paper thin too, so you can totally hear everyone around you....I am afraid to know what there standard tower rooms are like lol.

Excalibur is such a huge step down from the other MLIFE properties for rooms, down at the bottom with Monte Carlo ...Luxor has nicer upgraded rooms though for the lower tier.

I was in Vegas for the last 2,5 weeks and had Resort Tower rooms as well as Royal Tower Rooms. They are basically identical, the Royal rooms being a little bit more "modern". Size and bathroom identical.

I would not pay more for a Royal Tower room, but given the choice for the same price I would take Royal.

Thanks for the replies. I guess we'll see what we get. Don't usually stay at Exc, but the prices for that wknd were through the roof b/c of basketball championship at the new arena.
