Had a few MLife Comp days to use, so I took a little vacation with my husband this past week. We stayed at Excalibur and The Mirage. I'm surprised at which experience I preferred. Monday-Wednesday Excalibur: Resort Tower King. The room and hotel was clean and the air conditioner was COLD ❄️! I've never stayed at Excalibur before, but would again in a heartbeat. Location was great at the south end of the Strip. The only issue I had was a chirping smoke detector at about 3am (but maintenance was quick to replace the battery!) Starbucks is crazy in the morning, with only the one in the casino open We had tickets to see Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Excalibur but he was off this week and Jeff Civilico filled in. It was alright. Something to do in the day. We enjoyed a lunch at A Slice of Vegas, which is in the Mandalay Shoppes, (all connected via Excalibur and Luxor). The wings and pizza were both delicious. Decently priced. For one dinner we stopped at Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips at the Linq Promenade. It's a quick-service type place. Two people were able a share the fish and chips meal and we added a fried lobster tail. Highly recommend, but would maybe not order the lobster tail again (not that it was bad, just wasn't... great). We used BOGO MyVegas rewards for admittance into Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay and Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden at The Mirage. We've been to both before, but always enjoy revisiting every few years. Definitely worth it with buy one get one. Wednesday -Friday The Mirage: Resort King After check-out on Wednesday, we moved over to the Mirage for our final two nights. First thing I noticed was how warm the room was. Immediately we turn down the temperature to as low as it can do and put the fan on HIGH! After we returned from a night on The Strip, the room was still incredibly stuffy and warm. Thermostat was set to 65, but the room wouldn't go below 71 . Not a huge issue, but honestly between the lackluster A/C and smaller bathroom, I think I preferred the room at Excalibur. For our last dinner, we ate at Trevi inside the Forum Shoppes. It's the Italian restaurant that is 'outside' at the fountains. Delicious food and drink, wait staff was quick and attentive. Highly recommend if you are looking for Italian. I made reservations on OpenTable, but when we arrived, they took us immediately without even needing the reservation. After dinner we went to the Flamingo Showroom to watch RuPaul's Drag Race Live (reopening show). A must-do for any drag race fan! Overall it was a great trip. Masks are back and that was a bit of a bummer, but after a drink or two... Until next time..
