    Just curious.....
It's never happen to me but I was wondering if you have ever went to check in to your room and there was stuff already in the room? Or someone try to enter with their key? Or someone drank too much and pounding on the door in the middle of the night?

Never really thought about it until a friend just got back from the linq and told me when he checked into his room there was luggage and the beds weren't made. I thought maybe he went in the wrong room or something but he claims it happened and had to go back to the desk to get it straightened out. They assigned a new room and apologized and included a food credit but just makes you think..

I always lock up valuables and latch the door at night when sleeping but I'd imagine that would be an embarrassing situation if someone was in the room.

I've never personally experienced it but I've heard it enough in various reviews, TRs, and anecdotes to know that it's certainly not unheard of. I guess when you consider the scale and complexity and logistics and staggering amounts of booze involved for a city like Vegas, some degree of error is to be expected.

My dad once wanted to know why I loved New Orleans so much, so I booked a trip for me and him+my step mom to go down there. I picked out this higher end hotel in the Quarter, and after we met up in the airport we grabbed a taxi. Get to the hotel, check into the two rooms, and my dad uses the key for his room (works perfectly). Walks in and...in flagrante delicto. Just some straight up sexy times right up in his grill. He closes the door and goes back to the lobby. They didn't really apologize, they just gave him a key to a different room. He knocked on the door of the new (unoccupied) room! :haha:

once at caesars palace, it was around 10pm, i was fairly trashed from a very early, lots of whisky day....not sure why but a guy who worked for the cleaning crew, came in and started cleaning the bathroom, my brother got up and chased him out...

few visits prior to that, also at CP, they gave me my room keys and I went to put my luggage in the room, both keys no matter what I done would not work, I looked at the card holder and it had two different room numbers on it, so I tried the other room which was right across from me. success, I open the door and hear, "come back later" i said they gave me this room downstairs, this guy comes to the door in only jean shorts on, I explain, show him the paper and he calls to let them know, I actually told him to call down...they gave me a $50 extra room charge credit

I've had housekeeping try to come in. Once at Cosmo I had a comp offer and booked 3 nights as well, consecutively. She insisted I was supposed to be checked out. After a call down stairs it was corrected. To walk in on another guest though....would be an embarrassing elevator ride the next few days lol.

I had housekeeping come in when I stayed at a hotel in Nice (France). And I wasn't wearing anything! I just moved around the corner and told the maid that I was still there. Not sure if she understood English but she got the message. It was unfortunate because I checked and confirmed that I left the "do not disturb" sign on the doorknob. Guess she didn't understand that? Unfortunate, I was hoping for a cute French maid to walk in but that didn't happen.

Too bad, I walked along that promenade that people were killed on so I can relate to the people involved.

Once in vegas I entered a room that was already occupied. Nobody was there but when I opened the door I could see the person's belongings. I went back to the front desk, apparently housekeeping already marked the room as available even though they didn't even start to clean the room but they didn't even confirm if the guest checked out or not. I think they checked and said that the guest was supposed to check out that day. No problem, they gave me a bigger room so I got a better deal out of it.

Happened to me at Flamingo. They checked me in, got up to the room and somebody's suitcases were still on the bed.

Good call on the do not disturb sign....if that was on the door in would think twice before I tried to use my key. We usually only use it at night when we are in the room.

I also checked in at Flamingo and was given keys to a room with someone's stuff all over. I immediately went back down and told them. They acted like it was no big deal. I wouldnt be too happy if I was the one that had that room. Just having your stuff out for strangers to possibly steal and go through. Can't trust anyone. I saw one other person had this problem at Flamingo. Anyone else had this problem there?

In my 20+ years to Vegas --
    IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
I couldn't remember all the times.......it's been that many times.
And that's why I always use the bolt lock + lock my sh^t up in the safe ( if available ).
    *
    Worst time ?........EASY ,
    The Fitzgerald ( now THE "D" )
Security POUNDING on my door as I'm asleep.
I answer the door freakin' naked - hiding behind the door.
One of the security people was a woman - who talks into her walkie-talkie -
"Person opening the door is naked + agitated."
She was looking at my naked @ss in the reflection of the mirrors on the closet sliding doors -
which are at the entrance of the room.
I turn and look cos I'm wondering how she can see me naked behind the door ?
Hell Yes,,,,,, I was AGITATED !
    *
I explain I'm not checking out til the morning -
they talk back + forth on walkie talkiies and then BARELY say "sorry"......and walk away.
    *
I never set foot in that casino again !
    *
Good story...........though I was pissed off.

Use the dead bolt or chain if provided. If you don't want to take a chance. Otherwise leave the door only closed and go for it.

I stayed at Lady Luck, and when I got to the room, there was a ladder, drop cloth and open paint cans on the floor. I don't know how they even had that room marked as available.

We had a door knocker once.

It was our first trip to Las Vegas. We shared a room with my friend and his wife because they had a deal for $30/night (before resort fees) at MGM Grand, but they could only book one room with that deal. So we did it. We stayed one more night than our friends, but on their last night, about 20-30 minutes after we turned out the lights for the night, it began. A loud knocking on the door. Nobody moved. We ignored it, hoping that it was the wrong door and the person would go away. Alas, they didn't go away. This time the knocking was accompanied by a female's voice. "Precious!" <knock knock knock> "Precious! Let me in!".

Maybe we'll ignore it, maybe she wants the room next to ours. She's loud enough, they'll hear her and open the door to tell her she's knocking on the wrong door. Right? Nope. <knock knock knock> "Precious, I know you're in there! I don't gots my key!" <knock knock knock> "Precious!". My buddy gets up and goes to the door. He knocks back and loudly says "You've got the wrong room, there's no Precious here!". Silence. Wait a minute. She appears to be gone. He opens the door, and nobody is in the hallway. Phew!

Ten. Minutes. Later. <knock knock knock> "Precious! I can't get in! Precious!". We hear other voices in the hallway. Maybe a minute passes, maybe two. "Precious!" <knock knock knock> "Precious!" <knock knock knock> "I know you're in there, Precious!" <knock knock knock>. "Lemme in!". At that point I decided I had enough. I whipped back the sheets, and as I was sitting up my friend's wife, like Flash Gordon, got up and rushed to the door. She unlocked the door, flung it open and screams, "You've got the wrong damn room! There's no Precious here!". And she slams the door. Then I hear "Okay, Precious ain't there." As my friend's wife walks back to bed she says "It was a big black lady who was extremely shocked to see a small white girl open the door. Good night."

I couldn't sleep for about an hour after that. Every noise I heard I was worried that Precious's friend had returned. She didn't return to our room. The next morning, I was hanging with my friend in line as he was waiting to check out, pay his share and then put my card on the room for the last day. We get to the checkout desk and we overhear a guy's answer to "How was your stay?". His response? "Some drunk lady was knocking on our door all night looking for somebody named Precious."! My friend and I looked at each other and killed ourselves laughing.

I've walked into a newly assigned room a couple of times only to find someone else's stuff in the room. Never actually walked in. Saw the stuff and went back to the desk.

#1: Long, long ago we stayed at the Flamingo, a Garden Room I think it was called. Poolside. When we entered the room, it had not been cleaned after the previous occupants. I can still picture that Dr. Scholl's Corn Pad on the carpeting. Creeped me out. The Flamingo gave us show tickets with VIP seating.

#2: Next event took place at the old Fitzgerald's. We had called for more towels earlier in the day. Eventually I went back to our room to shower. I didn't use the inside security lock because my husband was still in the casino and might need to get into our room while I was in the shower. I hear loud knocking and some unintelligible shouting while showering. I yelled and started to get out as 2 housekeeping staff came in with the towels. Well, HELLO THERE! Thank you.

#3: A little off the subject. This is about me leaving our room at The Cal. Their room doors are recessed. I opened my room door to see a guy very closely facing the room door opposite me. He was tucking, zipping and buttoning. I went to the elevator area, arriving at the same time as a woman coming from the other direction. Momentarily, Mr. Zipper got there also, hugged & thanked the woman. We all got in the elevator. Can you say "awkward"?

Basically the same thing happened to me at Delano once. I just got out of the shower, and my SO was still asleep from the previous night out, so she heard nothing. I walk into the living room area to put on the TV while I was getting dressed and bam, the maid is getting the trash. I just went, uh, DND...?
