I'm also in the "love it" camp. Their Heffeweisen is delicious! Last couple years they have been redoing the front. Anyone know whether it is complete?

Sad that they dont know their main clientele and are doing the whole outside beer garden/hipster doofus thing just like exactly every other place on the strip.. They had a good run i guess.

Going to try the BBQ restaurant on our upcoming trip.

We've eaten in the Village pub, always enjoyed what we ate, like fried chicken, and prime rib, now to try the ribs. :feedme:

I still like Ellis Island, can't beat their food prices. :woot:

Ellis Island is the one. I had the ribs at Binions a couple years ago. They were served about 2 minutes after we ordered, dry, barely warm and tasteless.

When we stay at Bally’s we always end up eating most of our meals at EI. Like the food and the gambling and the staff has always been nice and the whole place just gives off a great family owned vibe to it . Hit the EI and The Stage Door and my dive gambling is all set .

Ellis Island is a must. I have a half dozen t-shirts from there. Free promo ones. Food's good. I like their root beer. I haven't had a bad steak from them. My husband is a butcher, there is nothing wrong with those steaks. They're a loss leader, a promotional item meant to draw people in...and they do...because there's always a line up in there. Are they the finest steaks? No they're not. But, they're perfectly fine. It's a coffee shop steak and it's good. I've had all my fav Vegas coffee shop meals there, sandwiches, steak special, breakfasts. I've eaten there fresh as a daisy, drunk and hung over. Never had a bad experience.

I've taken my best friend, also picky eater and my brother (snob) and they both loved it. My brother has had the steak and eggs and the steak special. Breakfast was before they renovated and steak special was after. He said he liked it better with the old red Naugahyde booths...same here buddy...same here. But, he said it felt like a real Vegas breakfast and I'm like it is. It really is and it's getting harder to find. My first trip I listened to people who wouldn't eat at places like Ellis Island, that was a mistake. I got brave my 2nd trip and I think by our 3rd trip we did a "how low can we roll" back when that was still possible and that's where I ate at some of the most hated places at that time and lived (my signature line).

I've also had some crazy Vegas only experiences and had a lot of fun at the bar and casino. My best friend learned to play blackjack there and she won some...then lost it at Bellagio. Ellis Island is close to my heart, really is.

Really? We had Binion's ribs once and it wasn't like that. It was good. I'm really sorry to hear about that. I've sent some people there... I really thought it was a spot that was always good. Not a place that was subject to ups and downs.

My only complaint with EI is the servings are so big :). I have had many meals there where I could barely finish them especially the beans you get with the steak. They are good but just too many to eat.:D

Sounds to me like they do and they want to draw in more people. I find no fault with a company trying to expand their clientele. And I wouldn't exactly call a beer garden a 'hipster' thing since they have been around for years.

I was worried they would "ruin it" when they started renovating but they haven't ruined anything. They've been doing it right. I think they're doing the best they can with the space they have too. I am 100% their low roller, coupon luvin', free tshirt hoarding, not on the menu special eating clientele.

This is up to 2016, that's the last time I saw it. They had done the inside and were talking about expanding. I like how they were doing it, it kept the vibe. I hope it's still that way. I love all the characters that show up at Ellis Island.

I will be going to Vegas in 3 weeks and will definitely be stopping in EI for a couple of meals and beer. I probably will go to the Stage Door too.
