Any info or pics of whats going on at the El Portal Theatre?
Is that where they’re putting a damn Taco Bell?
That's what i heard and that was awhile ago. When we were there in December I don't remember anything happening. And I think it is/was supposed to be the Taco Bell Cantina that serves beer/wine.
So the theatre is just closed?
Or is it tore down?
The building is still there, windows have been covered up.
I thought they were going to put a food court there.
Jeesh! Don't they have enough food courts in the area?
Neonopolis (Is this still open?)
I know I'm missing at least one.
A food court is what all the news articles say
not sure of other tenants but Taco Bell cantina as I previously said.
Eeegads, that was all the way back in March. Why no updates since? Taco Bell would do gangbusters DT. I'm shocked at the lack of progress.
Taco Bell there sure would be a busy one. I have nothing against fast food except the REALLY cheap and crappy ones like Taco Bell (horrible) and White Castle (worst burgers ever) farther down FSE.
I'm surprised, as well, that nothing has been done. Who knows, maybe the plans have changed, again. We could tweet Scott at Vital Vegas and put him on the hunt.
I read Walburgers too besides Taco Bell
Just another tale of greed. Owner of the land, owner of the building and future occupants (Taco bell and Wahlburgers) couldn't make a deal on how to split the profits, so building sits vacant after kicking the indian souvenir store out.
Its the first building downtown that got air conditioning
What my mom used to say is that when she was growing up, theaters were the first places to install air conditioning. She said that on a very hot day they would pay something like 15 cents and just sit in the theater all afternoon. This was back when they didn't kick you out after each showing, and always had cartoons, shorts, newsreels and such in addition to the currently playing feature.
It's a historical building thats for sure
I heard the Taco Bell and Wahlburgers deals fell through
I'll be there in three months...I'll check it out
