I went on the ElC website to book one night (1/1/17) in a Cabana Suite and was quoted $99 for the Queen Super Suite. Ok price, but not great. After I entered my info and email, I changed my mind and clicked out.

A few hours later, I received an email asking me to come back to the site to finish the reservation, and I would be given a 10% discount as an incentive. DONE! I clicked on the link provided in the email and found that my $99 room was now almost $130. Yowza, but Ok...maybe rates had changed in the ten hours since I first went to make a reservation.

Nope...still $99 when I make the reservation directly and WITHOUT clicking the 10% promo link. I called the ElC to see if they could help, but they were baffled and did not offer me 10% off of the $99 price.

Now what to do....?

You can cancel anytime up to 48 hours before arrival with a full refund cant you?

Yes, but that really wasn't the point of my original post. It was more about the discount offer that, for one reason or another, was anything but.

Of course, it is news years, Is it worth a $100?

Sounds like a second party pop up advertisement tried to get your business. It was not likely for El Cortez booking site.

If you have a better price for another DT hotel, book it.

The last three times we have been to Vegas we stayed at the El Cortez. It seems like they keep raising the rates on me, and the dealers are not that fun and have no personality. So this time were staying somewhere else downtown. We love to stay downtown so sooner or later we'll find a great hotel with fun dealers that actually talk to the players.

I agree, the El Cortez used to give me casino rate and waive the resort fee, now it seems they have stopped waiving the resort fee anymore and casino rate is the same as Joe Blow who has never stayed there before gets.
It made the decision to stay at the Four queens VERY Easy, $175 ($214 after taxes and fees) for 7 days as opposed to over $350 at the El Cortez.
I will miss the Cabana Suites but for $140 less, the Four Queens is Perfect.

I received (and used) the additional discount for an unfinished booking from the El Cortez before. It's not a second party ad.

The stone faces have been around at the el-cortez for a long time, from what I've seen it's improved recently(somewhat).

So you have found a way to "use their system to your advantage" in the past? But now when it didn't work in your favor you are PO'd?

Thanks for the humor.

Fet297: I am the OP, not frankb. Don't know to whom your sarcasm is aimed, but I did have trouble with the second-chance booking. I'm pleased that it worked for frankb, but check your target before you take aim.

Is it me, or is the "secret" out on the Cabana Suites? I stayed for two nights in 2012 for $57, TOTAL, after everything. Place has since gotten rather spendy.

It's a 1/1/17 stay, so everything is pricey. Usually, the CS are, in comparison to the GN or strip, dirt cheap. I would normally stay in a GG suite at the other end of Fremont, but they're sold out.

Same thing happened to me, kind of. I kept getting an invalid code error message, or something similar, when trying to book their designer suite through that 10% off email. I emailed them and didn't receive any response, so I ended up booking at the Four Queens. Their loss.
