I've been on the VMB since 2009 and think it's about time I attempted a live trip report! (as I typed that it reminds me of the scene in Hoosiers where Jimmy Chitwood comes out to the town meeting where they are trying to oust Gene Hackman as coach and Jimmy says "I figure it's about time for me to start playing some ball...." Classic scene and a great movie I will be staying at EL Cortez for 3 nights with a 12 hour stay at Sam's Town as I am taking a red eye home. I picked Sams town to try something different. Reason for this solo trip: 1. Once I learned I was getting vaccinated as a health care worker back in December I immediately booked (with the pre-authorization of my awesome wife Mrs. Unomas of course!) I booked a separate trip for Mrs Unomas and I in May now that she's got her first of two shots. I generally only play video poker and prefer to sit at the bars. Occasionally, I will play Let it ride or BJ and just last trip I actually played that Alien Cow slot, which I found pretty amusing. So, I will likely play a bunch at Vue bar, Chicage brew, and back at El cortez there's a little cove I like to sit in across from the players club. Things I hope to do Check out Circa Frankies Tiki room Skyline casino Front yard at Ellis island Sigma Derby Peppermill lounge for VP (I've eaten there but never went into the lounge) Cosmo chandelier bar for VP Hit up every casino downtown for a $20 VP tour (double up I leave or lose it I leave) Places I know I'll hit up for food + drinks Le Thai Chicago brew Magnolia's Pizza Rock Skyline for breakfast/lunch? publicUs for breakfast Hugo's Oak and Ivy Nacho Daddy Atomic ? The count down is on! I work until 7am EST Monday and my plane leaves Philadelphia @ 08:55, luckily I am about a 15 minute ride to the airport. Fingers crossed there is no traffic, otherwise this will be a very short trip report Cheers!
Best of luck on your upcoming trip, Unomas! I haven't been to Las Vegas since the first week of March last year when there was still just one known coronavirus patient in Las Vegas. My favorite place to play video poker at El Cortez is also that area next to the Parlor Bar. I've seen lots of photos and videos of El Cortez since they have reconfigured their layout, but none that gave a clear view of what that area looks like now. I'm curious to know if they've replaced the VP and keno machines there with slots.Could you please give some details when you make your trip report?
Good luck! I think El Cortez is a hidden gem. Not enough people leave Fremont St to go to the El Co. Great craps, old coin machines and good rooms.
We'll be down there at the same time, I plan on a decent amount of play at the Vue bar on Tuesday, maybe I'll run into you, I generally wear a red Fremont hat
It's getting to crunch time. I have 9hrs left of work and Mrs. Unomas will pick me up and drop me at the airport! Bags packed And cat pic Last walk
Made it through security in about 5 minutes and now just waiting to board.. See you Philadelphia C'mon Vegas!
View attachment 156687 C'mon Vegas![/QUOTE] Booo!!!!! LET'S GO PENS!!!! Other than that, have a great time and good luck!
Booo!!!!! LET'S GO PENS!!!! I used to be a die hard flyers fan, would tape every game on the old VHS and no one was allowed to tell me the outcome or I couldn't watch it! Then they went on strike and I lost interest.. now I just watch playoffs (whoever is playing) and hope for a good match up
Made to El cortez. We landed early and do we couldn't exit the place because there was no one to move the jetway. Could have been worse! Now I need some food.
I'm glad you arrived safely. Some of your photos are only showing the file names though. Better get that fixed before all the handpays start hitting!
