Geez, that place isn’t gonna feel the same without that carpet. I wonder if they’re planning on selling pieces of it to collectors? I’d definitely buy a square foot or two.

Yeah. The smell hits you pretty quick. But maybe it will be replaced by the smell of glue.....:)

I’m guessing they’ll need to call the hazardous waste folks in order to dispose of that carpet...

I always thought it smelt like stripper perfume and cigarettes. I like the cortez I'm not even sure it would be the same without that smell.

I vote for putting the carpet in a dedicated room of the Clark County Museum with no lighting, and the "clink" sound of coin-dropper slots playing over speakers on repeat, as a unique experience in which visitors will get to "smell and hear" old Vegas.

Most casinos smell so much better for a while after a carpet change. Think of all the things that contribute to that smell...on second thought, don't...

Exactly, I had a bunch of points to spend one trip so I bought a bunch of stuff at the gift shop including a t-shirt that while actually not bad was probably there a while and when I got home and unpacked, it made my ENTIRE carry on bag smell like the Cortez!!

I guess we’ll all be crowding around Circa soon just to get a whiff of that ‘new casino smell’.

Wow. I just thought. Maybe they wanted to institute the “old” atmosphere for downtown and said as long as el Cortez is getting rid of that carpet anyway.....hmmmm

Hopefully they dug down deep enough to excavate and remove the foul stench of the Las Vegas Club.
