The square box full of ice cold beer is fucking awesome. A fridge cannot chill a beer like ice can and I sat at the bj table directly in front of said box and only had to raise my Modelo and another was at my table within 30 seconds. This more than made up for the dirty felt and nauseous smell we all live for..ELCO rocks in my book for this reason

Now if they would only upgrade the sportsbook

Got back from vegas after staying at the el-cortez today, the "beer' girls do a good job, basically just keep circling asking if anyone want;s a beer, quite a few people mistook them for cocktail servers, not a big issue. The El was packed yesterday, they've really stepped up their game IMO.

    Exactly my experience.

Loved the place and will return (just not sure when).

You just have to wonder what's wrong with the mgmt at places like the downtown grand and plaza, the cortez is packed on weeknights, and even in the middle of the day there are plenty of people gambling. Meanwhile those places are ghostowns, with ZERO players when I walk through. The grand had a $15 2 deck table at 1 pm on a wed, bored looking dealers standing at empty tables, what's the point?

Is this "beer box" and "beer girls" something new? I don't visit ELCO as often as most of you but I haven't noticed this. Usually my wife and I would drop in for a while to play slots together. Is this beer thing only available at the tables?

I think it's a great idea. I recall Lady Luck used to have a roaming beer cart. They should do this in all of the casinos.

It's new, what it does is speed up the service for beer drinkers, since they dont have the much longer wait for a server to circle around and take orders and return. You ask for a beer and it's there in a few seconds. It's just for the tables. you can still get free drinks at the slots from the usual servers.

Awesome! I'll drop by on my next solo trip when I feel like going on a craps binge. Should be fun!

I enjoy El Cortez. I played keno there last week and won 1600 dimes.
I ordered a Crown and soda and it came with soap bubbles in it. LOL

Maybe they thought you were dirty, and was trying to clean you from the inside out? ;)

I am by no means a High Roller and I don't fully understand many of the conversations here about how you earn "stuff" through the various casino players clubs (ie..the CET Quest thread), but I have been receiving offers from EL Cortez for the last 12-18 months.

All of the offers are for 3 nights (Cabana Suite), $100 food credit and $75 in free play. While the El Co is obviously not the Belligio, the BJ is great, the beer comes fast and I love the old Vega vibe.

No idea why you are not receiving offers, but I would call and inquire about what might be available. I find the staff extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with.

I have an offer for casino rate, Tower or Cabana Suite. I emailed to inquire about a casino rate for a Design-A-Suite. They knocked about $100 off the total for Sept 7-12, and while I appreciate their effort, it's still more than I can justify. I've stayed in the Tower and Cabana Suites, and am looking for something different. I have not ruled out a Vintage Suite. I swear the hotel decision is more agonizing than anything I encounter at VP. :D

I like the Cabana Suites especially when I want some peace and quiet away from the FSE noise. Mzctbb how much play garners the free offers from the Cortez?

What are the chances of success in getting some comps after you play when staying?

Has anyone seen the new part of the casino bar that looks like they have a lounge next to it, tables chairs a sofa? Asking cause we are looking for a place to watch football on a Saturday and Sunday this fall and don't really like the sportsbooks downtown.

I was there recently. The bar isn't much different other than the sofa section. They added a few tvs but that's about it. Nothing special but hey, I don't go to El Co for anything special.
