My buddy took these pictures yesterday of the old Dupars and Bay City Diner spot.
What a letdown.....I haven't been there since it closed. I always like to go there at least once every trip-it was just a classic neat place.
It was a disappointment when they got rid of the deli where the shrimp cocktail and the piano player was and now this. I can not believe they would just not bring back the Bay City Diner instead of tearing the whole restaurant out.

Looks like my basement. With a higher ceiling--and a couple more kegs.
I never had the chance to dine there.

I did not realize that Du-Pars is at the Suncoast now.

I believe it opened in the Suncoast in April 2016, but Boyd took over ownership this past March.

I wonder if this is the area where more slot machines will be added.

Ripping out that diner is criminal.

That was my first thought when I saw the article about them expanding the size of the casino floor.

No, the expansion is into the former Le Bayou next door.

They did not "rip out that diner". The proprietor owed a breathtaking amount of money to the IRS. I'm sure something will open up there, though probably not at the pace we would like.

The pictures at the beginning of the post show nothing left of the diner and it's beautiful old woodwork and etched glass. I'd call that ripped out.

OK, I hear you. My point was more that management didn't have anything to do with the demise of Du-Par's. And I remember missing the Victorian Room when the Cromwell opened, for much the same reasons. I think the original Bay City Diner fixtures might have survived, but with the place closing, and massive remodeling elsewhere on the property on deck, they went for a clean sheet of paper.

I am surprised it ( Bay City Diner ) didn't end up as a segment on Pawn Stars. D. Stevens must pay something to have all the flashes of the "D" on the tv show and also wanting to sell the Sigma Derby and the old MSS railroad cars segments.
They wouldn't have gutted the diner if they had any intentions of opening it again.
