Just got this in the mail today. When did they go down to 5x odds? Guess I'll stick to The D, GG, and MSS when playing craps downtown.
I'm a newbie to craps... but isn't 5x odds pretty good by current standards? I know ElCo has 10x, and MSS has 20x. But from what I understand, 3-4-5x is the norm elsewhere, with rare exceptions on the low end (WynnCore 2x) and the high end (Cromwell 100x). Am I incorrect to assume that 5x is nothing to bat an eye at?
The D, GG, and I think Plaza have 10x odds. The worst downtown is Fremont with 2x odds at their $3 table. 3/4/5 is more common on the strip, not downtown as a general rule.
It changed within the last month or 2 I believe. I listen to a gambling podcast that focuses on craps (You can bet on that) and they were talking about it. Seems like a weird change for them to make since the Grand really needs to entice people to go down there. They either got hit harder than they wanted or it simply wasn't bringing people over so they changed their minds. I really liked the Grand but some of their decisions make me think they really don't want to be in the casino business all that much.
just FYI, the Cal also has the worst odds as it is only 2x for all their tables. Fremont I think also only has 2x odds for all tables. But MSS has the best downtown with 20x odds, that's why I play there the most. I think the Cal doesn't worry about the 2x odds because people want to play there with the hopes of making the golden arm club. I agree with the 5x odds move by the DTG. I really didn't think 10x odds hurt them so I question why they would appear to get more 'stingy' with the odds.
And, the Fremont has that $3 table. Guess they figure if you're playing that low, you don't care about only 2x odds.
