Placed two bets today for $40 and then cocktail waitress asks me if I want a drink. "Of course" was my reply. She then asks for my drink ticket. I went to the guy I just placed the bets with and he said you need to place a minimum of $100 worth of bets to get a drink ticket! He then handed me a ticket. Better off losing $20 at VP bar for that same drink! My goal is to see if this is a trend Strip-wide? Sorry if I missed this topic already discussed.

The threshold for drink tickets will vary by property. Many of the books on the strip are looking for $200 wagered to earn a drink ticket.

Guys betting the ponies often get drink tickets for far fewer than the $100. In my experience, that is about going rate to get a ticket at most places when betting on sports, but I often see guys getting multiple tickets when they're placing multiple horse bets.

Rio is still pretty liberal about them and the Orleans also.I was there 2 weeks ago.Got 3 or 4 one day at the Rio cashing a ticket,I left the teller the singles after making a couple bets also..Orleans I made some derby bets on Friday and got a few also. Ya gotta ask though.
I like to give them away to people who walk up to the VP bars and are ready to pay cash. They appreciate it and I tell them just be sure to tip the bartender..
I am getting comped anyway so I feel I'm getting over the casino and helping some folks out.Win-Win.

Wynn was 10$ minimum in the horse betting when we were there earlier this year. At least that's what the teller said and handed me a drink coupon. Tipping the teller after a win scored another one.

bellagio and Aria sportsbook are 1 ticket per $200 wager; on the big 4 sports. Seems like at Cosmo you need to ask the tellar, but similar threshold.

Caesars properties are much better about giving out drink tickets than MGM. Bally's will give you one for less than $50 bet. Plcing a bet on the ponies will also get you a ticket easily.

Never had a problem at the Linq or Harrahs - usually tip em a couple bucks and would get a handful.

Usually get about 30 drink tickets thru out each day placing maybe around 2k in bets
every 550 wager I place I give the ticket writer 5 bucks
in turn they give me about 7 to 10 drink tickets each time

Tipping helps. Also heard on a Vegas podcast that Excalibur is pretty liberal with the drink tickets.... but that also means you would have to hang out at the Excalibur.

TI's tickets say 100 on sports or 20 on a horse for a drink ticket.

You have to assume that people would place a $2 bet in the favorite and not only get a free drink but also win a buck. You can bet multiple races at a time so you could just sit there all day getting drunk. I assume they would rather not fund that past time.

My experience over the last 2 years or so

If you are betting under $100 total in sports, go to a CET property(probably not Caesars though). Much better luck getting a couple tickets with a $50 bet.

If you are betting ~$300 or more and a major goal is drink tickets. Don't place all your bets at once. Go up once and place $150 worth of bets, and then do the same thing after a drink. Obviously this is extra work. I have had plenty of times in the past where I place $500+ in bets and get a whole 2 tickets and my dad places $80 in bets and gets the same 2 tickets.

My experience with tipping is mixed. I do think tipping at dead times is much better than tipping during times where 50 people are in line.

CET is by far better than MGM in regards to sports drink tickets. Horse racing seems equal to me though.

I 100% refuse to actually pay for a drink in a sports book solely because of how easy it is to get drink tickets via horse racing. You may still have to spend some money, but at $8+ a drink it is pretty easy to come out ahead.

I would put 20 in a vp machine and get a drink then go make my 10$ sports bet.
I might be missing it but 100$+ just for a drink ticket? These aren't the same people complaining about the light system I hope. Just kidding.
