we have played at different places downtown having no luck and then went into mermaids and could not believe how much luck we were having on the machines.

we have gotten bonus rounds on machines there that we have never even seen at other places in vegas.we do not win every visit by any means but have had streaks there more than once.

kind of fun trying to keep up with the drinks and carting little buckets of nickels to the counter!

Couple years back we we were on the last day of out trip, and I had about $20 left to my name. Was going to have to hit the ATM to even make it home. Well, off to Mermaids and in about 10 minutes I had $80. Nice!

Last year went in and played the wheel of fortune for a bit and walked out in under 1/2 hr w/ a belly full of cap'n coke, a couple hundred dollars, and dirty fingers form digging my winnings from the tray. To me that place is what Vegas is supposed to be!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best times I have had in Vegas was in June this year playing a bartop poker machine at Mermaids for 8 hours straight on the same $20 whilst getting very merry on those Long Island Iced Tea footballs.

My first impression of Mermaids wasn't to spectacular, I knew going in it was a "dive" casino, but I actually kind of liked that. Anyways I was playing the old Monopoly game they have on the back wall which are nickel machines, I put in a $100 bill played for a while hit some bonuses but pretty much stayed around a $100 so decided to cash out. I didn't know that anything over a certain amount had to be hand payed, but I didn't mind to much so I waited for a rather large heavy set guy to come pay me.. he brings 4 $20s, 3 $5s, and 5 $1, I knew he was trying to get a tip but since I didn't win I just kept it all and as I was walking away he said don't come back. So I never did go back, but will probably check out again when I'm there next.

Yup, not sure if he was a manager or just a floor person, but still was the first time at a casino I have been treated like that. Anytime I win a decent amount, and need to be handpayed I don't blink at tipping $20-$50, but for a $100 investment and getting a $100 back I didn't think it warranted a tip.

    you actually lucked out.

last trip a woman sat at that same monopoly beside us and after awhile she hit the cash out button.

after a few minutes of dropping nickels I said 'you did good" and she said I`m so embarassed I put a hundy in not realizing there is no ticket out here.

to make things worse they must have just re filled the machine as she got the whole amount in nickels. ha ha

HAHA!!! Same thing happened to me a few years back at the Hilton.
I don't remember how we ended up there, but I sat at a machine in the Star Trek Lounge and put a Bennie in a nickle machine. Played a few spins and got bored almost immediately hit "Cash Out" thinking a ticket would spit out and I'd move along to another machine or something. Nope! I had to wait about 10 minutes for all 2000 nickles to dump. Then it took forever to get cage service and get totalled up.

"Let's never come here again. Ever," said my buddy.
    "Agreed."

Had a similar thing happen. Dropped $20 into a WoF machine and hit a couple bonuses. Ran it up to $160 and cashed out. I thought it was standard TITO, then got showered with quarters. Took a while for that machine to spit it all out, but I didn't mind too much.
