Trips to Las Vegas
300
My brother’s wife passed away two weeks ago after eight months of mostly unconsciousness. It hit him pretty hard and he wanted to go to Vegas. He told me that he had booked a Greyhound to take him there and back because he was afraid to drive. After about three seconds of thinking, I told him to cancel the bus and we would drive him there. He liked that.

First night at the Plaza
He hit the VP machines before I had even checked in. For the first time since, he had a very pleasant look on his face. Made me feel good.
After playing a little VP myself, I grabbed a Bud and walked down Fremont St happy as shait. There is something about that walk when I first get there that I truly love.

Back to the Plaza, they had $3 craps with 10x odds. I lost bad. Found my brother and he was down pretty bad also, wife the same.
As far as the first night went, I stepped over the line. I spent the cash I had brought, wrote a check for 500 and pulled a marker for another 500. I was pissed at myself; I don’t normally go overboard like that.

Day two

Checked into the El Cortez and their were no Jacuzzi Suites available as promised. Oh well, we probably wouldn’t of used them anyway. Brought our bags up to the rooms then went downstairs to play.
My luck had changed. I started off playing a game (VP) called 3Way Action and just kept hitting and hitting. Went to play with my brother on regular VP and kept hitting. No royals but lots of quads.
Later that evening I went to the bar for a Bud and put a twenty in the machine so I could get the Bud comped and within 15 minutes my balance was up to $1,756.
Got four aces with the kicker twice plus more quads. Totally unbelievable.
Walked up to the Plaza and paid off my $500 marker, yes.
Played some craps and BJ with negative results.

Day three

Played a ton of VP with my brother and both of us lost. He was mad about losing but it kept him mind off of his wife, well almost. I had one nice hit of VP for $900 or so and ended the day close to even for that day, not bad.

Next morning

Went to Careful Kitty’s for breakfast and they are remodeling it. It’s one screwed up mess right now. Food was just OK, not like it is usually. Got in car and drove back to Calif.

Final score:
Wife, not telling.
Brother doesn’t want to talk about it.
Me, + $1,700 plus a big hug from my brother when we got home. We are not really a hugging family so that made it real special.

Almost forgot, I walked to the Gold Spike and what they have done so far is great. I couldn't’t believe my eyes. If the end product looks just as good it will be a nice place.

Nice win DonD!

My condolences to you and your family. It's nice that you got to spend some special time with you brother and help him through what must be a very difficult time.

Thanks for the write-up. Glad your luck turned around. Too bad your bro and wife couldn't have had the same success.

Nice TR
brought tears to my eyes
what a special time for you and your brother
:nworthy:

Very nice you and the Mrs could accompany your brother on his trip. Sorry he didn't have better luck. But nice for you - Coach and I always seem to split trips, he does well one trip and makes up for me or me for him. Mostly me for him. ha! Nice report - I want to head downtown for a day when we go in Oct. Maybe its the El Co for a profitable VP session! Thanks for writing it up. and you are are a great brother and your wife a special SIL. Good work my friend.

What a great brother you are! I know how losing a loved one can affect the entire family but it sounds like you are close; so that helps.

. . . . and a profitable trip for you~ can't go wrong there!

Don, again, sorry for the loss you and yours have suffered.

Glad that you were able to take your brother away to Vegas and get his mood up again :)

Don, that was a good thing you did. It's very hard loosing a loved one and by driving your brother to Vegas and spending some time together you helped make the loss a little easier. Nice wins on the VP; maybe you should have checked into the El Cortez first it would have negated the marker and check.

Hope your brother had a good time despite being down at the machines. Good news about the spike, but you've got me worried for Kitty's...

Congrats on the win Don

Looking forward to the trip when I can finally get my brother off his butt and out to Vegas to enjoy a trip... Good stuff.

After playing a little VP myself, I grabbed a Bud and walked down Fremont St happy as shait. There is something about that walk when I first get there that I truly love.

Don,
Well put. I almost felt like I was right there with you.

Nice report, nice thing you did for your brother, hope it helped him get back on his feet after something so hard to deal with.

DonD - props to you and your wife for responding to your brother's desire to get away. Thanks for the TR. Glad the gambling turned around for you.

later, GVJ
