Well if the WAX isn't running me out to Depars at the Southcoast, where can I get a quality stack downtown?

I still can't believe GG doesn't have them anymore. Last time I stayed DT I remember Binions had a decent breakfast. People will yell at me but Ive had good breakfast at 1941/El Cortez. The D Cafe used to be good but I think it is gone to.

I have found Magnolia's @ 4Q to provide a consistently quality experience as far as diners go downtown. I haven't tried their pancakes but by extrapolation I assume they must be pretty edible.

I won't yell at @MrBBonz but I have definitely had a disappointing experience with regard to breakfast at Siegel's 1941. However their matzo ball soup is excellent.

Dupar's is a favorite of mine too. Luckily, I always have rental car to get out to the Suncoast for my pancake fix. LOL As for downtown, you could try Hash House A Go Go at the Plaza.

EAT. Try one. I can’t finish two but if you don’t mind wasting, order 2. They’re great. And get a side of bacon. And a couple of 3 cups of coffee. You won’t be disappointed or even remember after all that coffee.

Their food is fine, but the service there sucks.

Saginaw's at Circa has pancakes and amazing French toast. Order a side of bacon and chow down.

I love the pancakes at Claim Jumper in GN. Very light with just a hint of vanilla. (They also know how to make crispy bacon):feedme:

I am a regular at EAT, but for some reason, I can't get anybody on this board to take the extra six blocks.

    Y'alls are missin' out...

(That said, when you go, pass on the pancake and have the country fried steak)

I'm planning on walking down there in two weeks. I love both pancakes and country fried steak, so I may just get the best of both worlds.

They have an AMAZING breakfast. And if they are serving their prime rib hash, GET IT. It’s the best breakfast food I have ever eaten.

Or the prime rib hash. Or honestly, anything on their menu.

MTO Cafe on Main Street is a quick walk south from GG.

I'll second, third and fourth Eat. Just a great restaurant.

Agree wholeheartedly - MTO is slightly overpriced, but good, and EAT is just fantastic, breakfast or lunch. Wife had the pancakes there, and they were large, fluffy and delicious. I keep wanting to try new things but the huevos mortulenos (SP?) are too good to pass up.

I'll second Saginaw's for pancakes with their breakfast selections.
