I'm headed to the DTG for a Sunday night stay in a couple of weeks. Booked in a premium room, but would love to know if $20 can get me further.

    Thanks!

Had booked a deluxe room last week, and ended up with a premium after using the $20 trick..

She tried for a small suite, but it was not available for the whole duration of the stay...

Regardless, I'd say it was worth it

The $20 trick definitely works at the Downtown Grand. I bought a standard room through Priceline for $38 per night. I ask for a city suite when I checked in and got it after some clicking around by the staff. The staff was very helpful and may have even upgraded us without the tip.

Note: we checked in late and the only suite available had two bunk beds instead of two regular beds but it works for us.

Very funny. I thought you had to go to a hostel to sleep in a room with bunk beds. I always laugh at the Hostel Cat when I'm driving towards downtown. That place is really, really nice.

Got upgraded to a Premier Room for 5 nights with the $20 trick a few weeks ago. Since they wanted $17/night for that room, totally worth it. :headbang:
