I'm double booked at The Grand and GVR. I've never stayed at The Grand. I have read that their rooms are nice but how nice compared to GVR. I've only stayed at GVR once. They booked me in a second floor room with a wall 5 feet away. It was like staying in a cave...no light. I haven't been back to GVR since. So, I'm wondering if the rooms are equivalent or if one hotel stands out. Also, I know GVR has a really nice pool. I've heard that The Grand has a pool, too, though I've never seen it. Any comparison?

I can't make a comparison between Green Valley Ranch (I had to look it up) and Downtown Grand, other than to point out the differences.

First of all, GVR is a stand alone resort well away from any other "action" and Downtown Grand is, well, downtown.

The rooms at Downtown Grand are comfortable, and depending on what tower you're in, lots of sunlight. The casino is miniscule compared to GVR.

If you're a "camper" (meaning you like to stay in one location), then GVR would be a good choice. If you like to wander around, Downtown Grand would be a better choice.

GVR is a beautiful property with a nice pool are. But it is out there. You need a car if staying there to go almost anywhere. But definitely nicer. Although the bad part is our rooms were a loooong way from the casino, but next to pool. I would not stay again, but we have no car when there. DTG has a nice pool and rooms are pretty close to GVR. Prefer downtown for gambling and all the other choices.

If you're a video poker player GVR is better by a mile.

Both rooms are comped, so I think I will keep double booked and as we check in at both properties I'll ask my husband which one he wants to stay at. Our finances are limited so I was hoping to narrow it down to only one casino that we would require our play. Too many factors to be sure...we'll just have to gamble more. :D

True. And I am a vp player...but my husband is a slot player. I'm the real Vegas nut and because I play vp if I lose clout with Dtwn Grand I don't really care that much. Stations are great for vp and I won't let my status there slip.

If you like to make parlay sports bets, the book at Jerry's Nugget has better parlay odds than the Wynn book. :jester:
You likely won't find strollers at either property. :evillaugh:
Both have excellent prime rib. :feedme:
Neither property is on the strip :stir:
Jerry's Nugget is much closer to Chicas Bonitas :woot:

I used to love the old Western downtown, lots of memories and stories, you go to those fancy places and nothing happens worth mentioning.

Jerry Nugget has the Palamino Club by it. Wynn doesn't. Jerry wins

Apologies to smerrian for my role in turning this thread from a wholesome casino comparison to a thread that must now be moved to the "Vegas After Dark" section :noangel:
