Trips to Las Vegas

Hey guys, planning our daughters and friends first trip to Vegas next May as they just turned 21, do yall think I'm crazy for even considering staying downtown for Friday/Saturday nights before moving to the strip for the rest of the trip ?? Room prices is one factor. Any thoughts ??

As long you don't stay downtown the entire trip, I think it's okay. Every virgin should see the strip imo.

  • We Both Need This Vacation. MGM too oversold again to start.
  • A Rare Friday Night Stay at MGM!
Friday and Saturdays are pretty busy downtown, so they should find plenty to do. But I agree, moving to the strip for part of the trip will make it memorable.

I think everyone should see both the strip, and downtown. It's a different world.

I think dividing your stay is a terrific idea! After over 100 trips I generally avoid the Strip like the plague, but it's evidently a must see for newbies. There's usually a lot of "stuff" going on downtown on weekends that 21 year olds will probably enjoy.

Agree with everyone else......you're doing it the right way by experiencing both the strip and downtown. 20 years ago, two nights downtown might have been too much for 21 year-olds, but things have changed and I think they'll enjoy downtown as much as the strip.

Its how I made my first trip to Vegas. A good way to see it all!

There's a lot more 20-somethings at the clubs in East Fremont than you'll find in the FSE. The clubs aren't night clubs in the strip sense. They are small and intimate. But they get packed late at night on weekends and are a heck of a lot cheaper than anything on the strip. Very popular with the locals. As everyone says, split your time. The strip casino hotels are much more oriented toward your age group.

I think your plan is great! Friday's and Saturdays are expensive as far as rooms on the Strip so that's a good budget move.
