I thought about actually paying the fee for a few days, or looking for alternative spots and walking. I can see this being important for some gamblers (mind you, they are generally going to gamble enough to cover or taking limos probably ;) My offers generally are 3 nights anytime with about $150 in FP and RC. Not huge, but enough that I don't want to jeopardize them by three myvegas stops (ie. Zumanity, Ka) at MGM properties.

I suppose you could try parking at the Tropicana for the shows at MGM and NYNY.

Since we don't have a definitive answer yet, I would lean toward that it does trigger activity on the card. Hopefully someone could ask a host or have first hand experience with it.

Until somebody knows FOR SURE - I would believe it would trigger a trip. And you ADT would get hit with a zero play day.

Keep in mind that Mlife uses a trip (multiple days) vs Caesars that uses DAILY.

OK, so here's a "trip" question.

Let's say you're in Vegas for 5 nights, staying at a non-MGM property and you go to MGM Grand once and use your card to get free parking, and no other activity. How many no-play days do you get slapped with?

Same question, except you use it on two days, but not on consecutive days.

I think it's awesome you got to the speak to the head hauncho's of things (COO, SVP, etc) I've only ever been able to do that with smaller casinos...

As I understand Mlife.... one day, two days, three days.. does not matter. It is still the same "trip". Not sure how many days before they start another "trip".

This refers to any activity that triggers their system - no solid answer on parking in particular. If parking does trigger the answer would be the same for one day, or two days.

The only sure way to know is to find a host that can see your historical ADT. Get that BEFORE using the parking garage. Then use the parking thing, and NOTHING ELSE. Check back maybe a week later and see if it changes are made to your ADT. (or whatever number they use)

I don't think "trip" means anything for the average player, I think it's for purposes of high-end player incentives, like travel reimbursement and loss rebates. Shifter and Nate used to talk about "trips," you never heard anyone else mention it except by latching onto the term and thinking it meant MLife was doing ADT differently. I think they basically calculate ADT the same as everybody else. Nobody has ever shown the math or described how a trip is some different way of calculating ADT.

I agree a host would be a good source of info, but if I had one, I'd ask before I even experimented. I'd imagine they've run into this situation in real time by now and should know the answer.

I actually thought about giving an extra card to some poor sour or two who had to pay parking, but I decided against it for exactly this reason.

I never worried about leaving cards in machines before, but now I'm more cautious, for exactly this reason. Who knows what checks and balances they'll implement to combat work arounds...

I never thought of this before - that someone could use your forgotten card to get free parking.

I'm going next week to Vegas and am going to try to figure out if scanning your card triggers a gambling day (better description than 'trip'). I did get the following response from MLife:

Thank you for contacting M life Member Services. The parking scan does not constitute a stay. It just allows you to be able to park in the garage for free with your Peal status. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

That is all I got from her. I don't think she fully understood the 'gambling day' reference?

Hah! I was in the President's slotty in May (top 100..hahahahaa, Corporate bumped me at last minute to facilitate some bigger players from sister casinos, but got back in at last minute due to 10% cancellations)..They all show up at that Tournament. (they are also at the dinner etc.) Plus when I go on the cruise with the hosted MBay in October, (3 years now, unsure if I'll get in this year though) they show up at the bon voyage dinner, and a couple actually go on the cruise, so you get to know them. I've been MB for 13 years, so I know a few.

She may or may not have, the problem is the terminology she used by saying "stay" doesn't make it clear. So she didn't answer the question you asked. People seem to have a hard time doing that.

I am amazed at how many times various customer service orgs answer a question that I did not ask. In this particular case I doubt she had any idea what was being asked. I even think it would be hard to get a good answer from many hosts. They tend to look at their system and deal with the current trip and spend right in front of them. Only the corporate marketing folks look at the longer term picture.

I searched and saw an old thread on this that was locked for replies. In late 2016, it seemed like we didn’t have consensus on whether using your mLife card for parking triggered a gaming day. So does anyone know the situation now? Thanks!

Valet parking Incurs a swipe, as does the machines at all self parking, therefore, I'd say yes.

I agree with D but the Total Rewards folks argue ad nauseam on either side of this debate. From what I can gather, on either club, a swipe starts a day. A swipe for a discount in the gift shop, admittance into a lounge or on any machine starts the clock.

Some Total Rewards places have a critter in a booth that looks at your card for free parking, like in AC. Looking doesn't trigger a day. Inserting your card into a machine, like some Total Rewards casinos, to get that parking pass should. And I think that is the cause of debate on the CET end. You cant just blanket statement "Parking Triggers a Day" since it depends on how each paid parking place handles parking comp for Diamond and above.

I assume Mlife works the same way. They/You swipe and the day has begun. You flash your card for a cab line cut, skip the line at the buffet or whatever and no swipe = use without a trigger. Any time a machine knows you are there, you are clocked in.

At NYNY it auto opened the gate upon leaving.. No swipe ever when leaving the garage. Was creepy. Figured maybe it detected license plates or something?

Yes, that is how its supposed to work. It takes your plate info when entering. However it has never worked for me at Mirage. I had to insert my card everytime when leaving there.

I noticed Mirage's lot was not as "smart" no lights to notice the unoccupied spots and we also had to swipe the card upon exit. Not at NYNY or Monte Carlo I believe
