Depends on who you are. I couldn't care less (I mean, we're staying at Golden Gate for Christ's sakes) but wifey likes a little more room to breathe.

Quality and quantity. A CC manor room could be 1000 sf, but it's still a manor room at CC.

Now having said that, I've stayed in several score Vegas hotels and sometimes when out on a road trip a BW can be an upgrade.

Yes... it matters to me. I don't live in a closet at home and I prefer not to when I'm traveling either. At a minimum, I prefer a room with a separate sitting/TV area. That makes for a nicer room-service breakfast. Though I don't spend a ton of time in the room, I often am working along with my fun and have to retreat for a conference-call or do some computer work. I'm way to old to lay on the bed like a college kid to do that. I also hate opening up my curtains to a parking garage or roof-top HVAC units. I always ensure my room is going to be looking out over "something" other than that I've previously described.

I'm not a "shit, shower and shine" guy and my room reflects that... I'm not in such an all fired hurry to shove my hard earned money into a machine or onto a table that I'm willing to give up certain amenities. Don't get me wrong, I'm not Thurston Howell, but I'm also not Joe Frugal.

Now then... I've stayed at The Manor at Circus Circus and bet I'm the only one on VMB who's also stayed at the world-famous Oasis Motel by The STRAT and I survived just fine, but that was many years ago when my per-diem was at entry level limits.

I do fully recognize and respect that a good portion of Las Vegas visitors like to economize on room, food, transportation, etc. whenever possible to pad their budget for what's really important to them, whatever that may be... and more power to them!

I don't require a bigger or better room when i'm there, but i do appreciate it when i have one. I don't spend a lot of time there, but it is cool to have. I haven't had anything incredible, i've had a diamond suite at the Monte Carlo (i think it was called diamond), and the Marquis suite at NYNY. i enjoyed both, and just made it more enjoyable when i did spend time in the room.

I understand the folks who are there for 3 days, and awake for 60 of 72 hours. Understandable that they don't want to pay for, nor do they need a nice room. Especially if they're gambling plenty, and can get it 'free' :)

I'm there for a month, so will be working, and I like to chill out a bit in the room, too. I don't need a fairway villa, but I do want something that is going to be comfortable enough for me to work/relax in.

Rush Tower at GN has been my homebase since trying DT out in 2011, and will always form my base for at least 1/2 of my trips.

Can't beat relaxing on the balcony @ Cosmo, while I'm going through emails, or just having a nightcap before bed, and watching the world go by.

I've only booked The GN section of my holiday next year, but as long as the prices haven't gone crazy, I'll be at Cosmo again. If I'm happy with the price, I'll pay, and if not, I'll look elsewhere.

Kinda like a car gets you from A-B, while you can get there in a Honda, it's not bad upgrading and getting there in a Porsche or Jaguar.

I can sleep on the ground if I have to but it's good to have that level of opulence from bottom to top.

If im going to spend X on a trip to vegas, i have no problem spending a little more on a nicer room.

While i have recently tapered down on my room types, i can see the argument for wanting a little luxury.

Absolutely. I want the biggest free room I can get at a casino the wife likes. For a while, that was Venetian/Palazzo, then it was Orleans, then South Point, then Red Rock (still don't know how I got in there). Got Aria once on game points. Next trip- who knows? They all figure us out eventually.

We didn’t spend much time in the room in our early Vegas years, our criteria was: a) cleanliness and comfort, b) location, c) casino, room size didn’t matter.
But when we started getting comp’d larger rooms and suites, we began to appreciate the aesthetics of a room with nicer amenities, luxurious bedding, a view, the spaciousness, and ability to eat at a table if we chose or entertain close friends so we do spend more time in the room just chilling and visiting. I’m a die hard slotter so while I enjoy some room time relaxing and visiting, I’m in the casino a lot. DH and a friend will order room service and watch sports together since the sports bars are often too smoky or noisy - diehard sports fans. DH also likes to relax with a book on the balcony @ Cosmo or in the living room at other hotels. So as we’ve gotten older having a larger room fits us, but it doesn’t have to be a suite.

I spend very little time in the room. I am a downtowner, most of the rooms are smallish anyway.
also, I don't turn the TV on unless I use it to check out.
when I do score a larger room, I appreciate it, but I still don't spend more time in it.
occasionally there may be an exception due to impromptu sexcapades. :jester:

Don't care too much about size, care more about quality. The first few times I went to Vegas, I was always in the "I don't care about the room I'm never going to be in it anyway" group, but then I spent a couple nights in the Cosmo Terrace FV One Bedroom, and that changed my mind in a big way. I had never been in a nicer, more amazing room in my life and it spoiled me. Wish I could afford one every time.

Now I try to do a mental algorithm of what is available for comps vs location vs niceness of room and try to come to a happy medium. My next trip I had a Resort King at Mandalay booked, but after I thought about it I realized I was going to spend a lot of money/time cabbing back and forth to it, so I changed the booking to a Bally's Resort room. The MB room is objectively "nicer", but the Bally's one is fine too and it's dead center to where I like to hang out.

What I won't do anymore is go cheapest room at all costs. I could have gotten a Harrah's Mardi Gras comped for the whole stay, but to me that's not a vacation that's a punishment.

We are in the room to sleep only, unless we lose our daily bankroll early in which case we may go up and pout for awhile. Main thing we like in a room is comfortable beds, A/C that works properly, and hopefully no excess late night noise.

Could not care less about the size of the room. I care about it being renovated and location. A view is nice but not at all necessary. I will usually book the cheapest renovated room I can find on the TR site, except for times like next week when I am staying at Caesars since the people I'm going with are staying there. I am definitely looking forward to it and I am sure I'll love it, but I don't go to Vegas to be in the room.

I am most often in Vegas for business and spend a good bit of day working from room, especially in early AM...like space to spread things out for work and do like a nice, bright room with big window. Aria rooms give me everything I look for...and very quiet as well.

If it's just my girlfriend and I then I don't really care. However, I do like bigger than average bathrooms. I hate tiny showers, tiny vanities, tiny sinks, ahh. I like to have some room as a 6' tall guy.
Now, if my girlfriend and her friends come then I like a big room because they need at least a dual vanity to get ready. They can take quite some time to get ready so I like to have a couple big TV's and plenty of room.
I like rooms with refrigerators too so that typically requires a suite.
Some of the nicer rooms at the Nomad have billiards tables! I can't wait to stay there. Not many rooms have billiards tables anymore. -.-
It's also common for my friends to pre-game and it's nice to have tables to play drinking games and a kitchen area to make drinks.

I don’t care about size so much (Vegas rooms generally are big) but I do calibrate my accomodation to my trip. Short trip I’m less fussed, longer stay and I start to care a lot more. You can’t do 20 hours in the casino for more than a couple of days :)

Group of guys, Marquee Suite at MGM (though need to revise with my boycott of mgm) low rolling friends I’ll go to a Hard Rock pseudo suite (it’s great value if you’re in their demographic)

This next trip I took a Terrace Suite at the Cosmo but I’m there for 6 nights for a conference plus have to do some work so having a seperate living area plus the balcony / fountain view to sit with my laptop and do work is pretty compelling. Sitting in your ‘bedroom’ gets depressing after a while, I used to do 75+ nights a year of work travel so it brings back bad memories.

I have stayed in gorgeous penthouse suites and regular standard rooms and of course if someone said you can have either one comped I would pick the suite over small room! The real advantage a suite has is that there are multiple bathrooms that allow more than one person to get ready for the day, cutting the time out the door in half. However, as long as the room is clean, SAFE and is not located next door to a bunch of all night loudmouths, I'm happy. Especially in Vegas -I mean, I'm in VEGAS!! At the end of the day, the room just lets me rest up for the real adventure waiting for me!

This is completely wrong. Suites are cleaned exactly as often as regular rooms are. Have you ever stayed in a suite before? I am only asking because I am not sure what would make you come to the conclusion that suites aren't cleaned as much.

Believe me, if a guest in an expensive suite returned to find a half cleaned room, there would be a big problem. Heck, if I returned to a regular room and found it barely cleaned there would be a problem. I have stayed in an Executive Corner Suite at Vdara on many occasions and always request the same room and ask for the same housekeeper (if she is working), as I have gotten to know her and she does an amazing job (and I tip her well). From speaking with her, I know for a fact that every single housekeeper at any hotel has a certain quota of rooms to fulfill on a daily basis and if they are assigned to work on suites, they might have less actual rooms but it is more work to clean a suite because there are usually multiple bathrooms and several rooms (and in the Vdara Executive Corner suite there is also a full kitchen and a couch that pulls out to a second bed) . Not only do they clean a suite on a daily basis, like any other room, but they clean it very well and leave extra amenities like water etc. When a guest checks out, housekeeping also has to prepare the suite to look completely fresh and unlived in for the new arrival, so right there the entire room is cleaned like any other room would be

I don't mind a small room but I need to have a good view. I like to go to sleep with all those twinkling lights out there in view. The dumpy Vegas bathrooms of the older hotels are getting tiresome, but if a room is free-ish, I'm willing to tolerate those.
