For those of you who don't know me, I go to Las Vegas probably 5 or 6 times per year. It's become an escape for me. I usually do 3 weekends sprinkled throughout the year, and 2 longer trips (5-7 days each) per year. I have some co-workers who say I must be addicted or obsessed. The funny thing is, one of these co-workers goes to the lake every weekend, so I could say she's "lake obsessed!"

Anybody else have to deal with co-workers, family or friends who are "negative Nancy's" about your Las Vegas lifestyle???

Hell, I've had a few folks here say we go to Hawai'i too often.

Retired now, but when I was still working, I'd always get those types of comments. Oh, you're on vacation next week, I suppose you're going to Vegas again. Oh, you have a four day weekend, going to Vegas? etc, etc

I typically choose not to engage people like that. I just smile and nod, while I silently judge them. Which is probably what they should be doing. :haha:

Yep, I was gone for a week in early September and my boss had a conversation with one of my co-workers. "What does he do out there? Is there a girlfriend we don't know about? Why does he go by himself sometimes?" The co-worker actually stood up for me; she told him, "hey, he's younger and single, why not?"

I've had some people mention to me that we seem to be too focused on Vegas, funny that I don't seem to speak to those people anymore. I don't need that negativity.....

My family thinks I have a problem whenever I lose 3 figures in a casino.

Nope. Leave for sixth 2021 trip this week

Everyone assumes if I'm away, I'm in vegas. I dont relish the assumptions, (I'm being profiled! ) but whatever.

I got a little grief about Covid exposure earlier in year. But no other judgment.

I don't know if anyone thinks I'm obsessed, I'm not, but several people know I go there. I really don't care what they think. It doesn't affect them one bit.

I used to keep it quiet, but as I get years under my belt, I don’t care what people think about it. Sometimes my wife goes with, sometimes I fly solo or meet up with my knucklehead friends from grade school. It is my therapy!

if it bugs you, that is your issue to deal with.
If you are jealous cause your wife won’t let you go, that is your issue to deal with.
If you judge me because I like to gamble in Vegas, I probably don’t want to hang with you.
If you assume I am doing stupid out there, well you just don’t know me.
If you wish you could go with me, just ask.

    T-12, baby!

Yes there have been a few over the years. I found those people not understanding the allure or attraction of Vegas as either having never been there themselves, or they've been there and for whatever reason failed to do Vegas right.

    Why not!

Yeah....I keep it quiet at work. My non-work friends are ok with it, even if they don't "get it". But that's ok.

It should be no different than it is with any oft-repeated/preferred recreation or vacation spot or even hobby. But it is. The Puritan spirit is alive and strong in many Americans, even those who think themselves as other than that way. It's gambling, liquor, vice, hookers ... ruin. Las Vegas long ago tabbed itself Sin City even though at the typical level it is as milquetoast as Waffle House in Sun City. I'm sure what we spend on wine or golf or bikes or places other than Vegas would be considered a "waste" by many folks here, and that liquor stuff ...
