I do. They used to show them every few weeks, and actually had a whole week dedicated to them. When I am gearing up for a trip, I like to watch that kind of stuff!

As MTV has seemed to move away from music, so goes the Travel Channel as it relates to travel shows.

    Or so it seems, anyway!

    I miss those Vegas-centric shows, too! :(

Last night on Turner Classic Movies (I think) were a couple older movies I'd never seen before... The Las Vegas Story w/ Jane Russell and Vincent Price and also Meet Me In Las Vegas (Agnes Moorhead was the Mom of some rancher). Both has some cool old scenes of Fremont St. and the old Strip.

    I miss Samantha Brown.

The Travel Channel seems to really have gone all in on ghosts, hauntings and other gibberish the last couple of years.

Zimmern has a couple good Vegas episodes as does Bourdain....you can watch them online

    would you rather?

go on an eating spree with Zimmern?
    a drinkfest with Bourdain?
    or smell Samathas bicycle seat?

one thing for sure, i would hate to have use the toilet after the first two had been in there just before me

Problem is that I got in on the action too late, and before I realized it, I was only able to record Viva Las Vegas, some dopey movie with way too much singing and dancing, and an even dopier Bowery Boys movie called "Chasing Las Vegas".

I think I watched a total of 20 minutes of the latter two movies. Viva Las Vegas will be tomorrow night.

I have never seen these! Probably a good thing, as I'm already chomping at the Vegas bit! :)

After I Love Lucy ended they did a series of one hour specials, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (there were 12 of them I think) with the original cast. One of them featured Fred MacMurray and was shot in Vegas at the Sands. It's been awhile since I've seen it but I remember it as being old Vegas cool :)

My favorite Vegas show was Breaking Vegas, although I think that was on the History Channel, not Travel. About a dozen episodes. My favorite was on Ron Harris. Another was on RIchard Marcus (probably the best casino cheater, also wrote a great book on it, American Roulette)

Yeah, I do miss those Vegas shows on the Travel Channel.

Indeed! I opted to miss the first couple but watched - for the fifty trillionth time - the original Oceans Eleven. There's just something about that movie. Some scenes are
alarmingly bad (the strip club scene (what passed for a strip club according the MPAA)), but I get sucked into it every time I run across it on the tube.

^^ Same with me. Not all that great of a movie but I watch it whenever I see it on.

Absolutely. So much has changed they could use an updated show.

I know. I used to like watching the travel channel, not so much nowadays. I used to like the Rick Steve's shows on Europe. Also liked the Samantha Brown shows also.

Too bad they aren't showing them anymore but it may be because they aren't getting the sponsors to show them again. I know they usually have a vegas week that with vegas shows but it may be because vegas sponsors them. Actually nowadays I hardly watch the travel channel because I'm not interested in things like expedition unknown or booze travelers.

Those were so great. I remember I would get so excited when there was a new one that hadn't been shown yet. I too would always watch them when I was getting ready for a trip.

Also, did you ever notice that Vegas-centric movies always got better when you watched them on the way? Lost Vegas is not a very good movie but I loved watching it while en route to a Vegas trip.

I loved them and definitely miss seeing them. I too miss Samantha Brown but I love seeing her on HSN. I have a few pieces of her luggage, in yellow. It is not the best quality luggage but I love it, it is functional and I use it for all of my vacation -- especially Vegas -- travel from spring through fall. I use my Tumi for work. She had a luggage set that was the Today Special Value on HSN this past Saturday. I didn't buy more luggage but I packed about 95% of what I need for Vegas while watching her on HSN off and on all day, including trying out accessories and all. That Ocean's 11 was on this past weekend too was icing on the cake.

I don't leave for Vegas until April 14th...

They were so outdated, but I do miss recording them and watching as a Vegas relief.
My wife would get excited when she saw Vegas stuff recorded but then she looked closely and goes....."Again??? You seen those 100 times already."
I know and it never gets old.
